And, you know, the fact that we have hideously rare versions of two German tanks (the STUG in the game, and the Panzer IV. Only 175 Panzer IV F2s were produced) versus legions of the best-of-the-best Soviet armor.
The turret traverse may have been my (and everyone else who I was with's) perception. I'll concede that. But the rift between German and Soviet armor has only widened with this patch.
Red Orchestra: Ostfront '41-'45 models all of the pros of Russian tank design, and absolutely none of the cons. The Germans, on the other hand, do not benefit from this apparent bias.
Why, for example, did the devs choose to implement the Panzer IV F2? As previously stated, only 175 were produced. The Panzer IV G debuted at the exact same time. It had 1687 produced. The Panzer IV H, which debuted in 1943 (The F2 and G were in 1942, don't know the month), had production numbers of 3774.
The Panzer IV H is better than the Panzer IV F2 in every conceivable way.
There are more maps with IS-2s in them than there are maps with T-34/76s.
This is disconcerting.
Edit: Also, just to add... The Soviets held trials for a 100mm gun on the IS-2, and for the 122mm. The 100mm performed better in armor penetration, but the 122mm was chosen due to its high explosive payload capabilities. The IS-2 was a break through tank, not a tank killer. It was loaded with far more HE than AP. In fact, during the war, the IS-2 fired 70% HE rounds. Only 30% were AP.
