Disagree. We MIGHT not have those things... though the jet engine was already under development before WWII started, rockets had already been invented, etc.

but do you really think the same amount of effort would have been put into developing those things had it not been for WWII and later the Cold War?

you start from a bad logic. "going back in time" to kill hitler would not solve the problem. you would have to go at least to the time the clauses of versailles treaty were established. but even that would not guarantee to avoid a world war because at some points time can branch in so many futures.

Now going back in time to kill the guy who invents the time machine you used to travel back in time with. That messes with you.

That's true too. That's one thing about history. Every event. Good or bad. Creates the world we live in. I mean what would have happened if Gavrilo Princip had not shot Archduke Ferdinand?

Everything you all just said could be solved with what I said above. Then again, going back and doing that. Would erase the time line that allowed you. To build the time machine in the first place!:D
