The other day, I was playing Berezina on the Wild Ones server. I was a Soviet Tank Commander, 3 minutes from the end of the round without a tank.

I pre spotted just behind the AT area (our current line), planning to call arty when we fall back. We were doing well, as it was 3 minutes and we weren't pushed pass the river yet.

Anyway, here I was tankless, with just a pistol, and I notice a PPSh on the ground. I figure, I'll pick it up, but didn't notice I was right next to the Radio. I accidentally called Arty down where most of my team (including myself) was hunkered down.

Pretty soon, I was kicked off for teamkilling. I have no idea how the round went afterwards.

Ooops.

Anybody else do something so bone-headed?

arty is almost pointless to use on a public server because of something like that......of course your instance was a complete mistake, but there are times where you put arty at the opponent's cap entrance to clear them out, then next thing you know you've got it capped already.....noobs dont check the map and run right into the arty all three salvos!!! always hate seeing other people or even yourself get kicked because people like to run straight into the arty!!! :p

Satchel Charges

Satchel Charges

Although I've been auto-kicked a couple times for artillery on bots, it is far more frequent and frustrating to be auto-kicked for satchel charge kills, especially in Leningrad where the sapper is so important to German success.

I've hot-linked the alert commands for "artillery" and "satchel planted" and "grenade" which cuts down on the fratricides of human players.

I remember I was playing "Enemy at the gates" one time, I called arty on the German trenches and our guys capped it. We then proceeded to spawn right under the arty because the spawns moved up and ended up bombing my own team. Look at all those pink clouds. . .

Runnin' with the satchels

Runnin' with the satchels

If you are not an engineer and you're on a map that has destroyable objects (barricades like barbed wire, e.g. Leningrad, Kurland Kessel; doors, e.g. Stalingrad Kessel; or objectives, e.g. Rakowice Airfield), please steer clear of said objects until your engineers have blown them up. In particular, if you see any little brown packages near the aforementioned objects lying around in an UPRIGHT position, get behind some cover, or just away - far away. Satchels have a much greater damage radius than what you might first expect. If you do get blown up by a "friendly" satchel, don't forget to forgive by typing "NP" in chat.

I was SL on Kurland one night. The mojority of the team was yelling at me to drop arty on the first cap zone. I told them If I did they where just going to cap and I would be session banned for TK's as they are all going to run straight into the arty. After a couple more minutes of being yelled at I dropped the arty, they capped and ran right for the arty. I was session banned.

That sucks. I bet they all thought you were a lousy squad leader for not dropping it, when of course the opposite was true. You should have stuck with that little voice in your head :p

Only thing I did was commanding a tracked Panther in Darkest Hours in some of this villages (Foy?). So I had a great spot to be tracked: On the main road, I was alone in the tank and had around 30 kills in this tracked Panther. Really great. I had HE in the gun and tried to support the german advance. I saw that a crowed of 5-7 germans were behind a wall an gathered for an assualt. Right behind a breech in the wall I saw some allies move into a ambush position. So I aimed got the HE shell out and hit an inch to far left (really not more) and so instead of flying 200m to the allied ambush it hit the wall 5m from my position killing 7 teammembers with one shot.:D:rolleyes:
