Server Workshop maps not working for my server

I've been down this road before when I first started up my server last year, and I've gone through all my notes I made hoping I had learned from those issues but I'm stuck again. Unfortunately gameservers staff is not sure what the problem is either.

I started over - completely default server config and am trying to just get ONE map to load.

Here are the changes I made in my configs:
KFEngine.ini

[OnlineSubsystemSteamworks.KFWorkshopSteamworks]
ServerSubscribedWorkshopItems=1540163012 // workshop map ID for frightyard

[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]
DownloadManagers=OnlineSubsystemSteamworks.SteamWorkshopDownload // allows other players to download map when connecting to server

KFGame.ini

[KF-KF1-FrightYard KFMapSummary]
MapName=KF-KF1-FrightYard // makes map selectable in map cycle via web admin
ScreenshotPathName=UI_MapPreview_TEX.UI_MapPreview_Placeholder

When I log into web admin the map is there as an option but the server will load biotics lab. I have followed every guide I can find step by step and cannot figure out what I have overlooked.

The map name matches the file completely.

Any help is appreciated.

zachjd was looking through things with me a bit earlier this afternoon - nothing about the issue makes sense.

The logs showed an error when trying to download any workshop map to the server. It's the same config setup I used previously with a gameservers.com server. Very strange.

[0006.61] Warning: Warning, Workshop: Unable to download workshop item 1540163012
0007.00] Warning: Warning, Workshop: Unable to download workshop item 1520957350

For now, the only workaround I have found is to use Filezilla to put the maps on the server manually while leaving the ability for users to connect and download the map from the workshop.

Fortunately, that part seems to work fine so people are able to join no issue.

Here is a sampling of what I found in the logs if it helps point to the problem -> Binaries/Win64/WorkshopLogSomethingDoNotKnowThefolder

Give server logs found in ROGame/Logs/ and in Binaries/Win64/WorkshopLogSomethingDoNotKnowThefolder if you are on windows server (remove sensitive info if you have password in command line for example, or IP, things like that, you can easily do that with Notepad++ by searching and replacing with empty word).

Depending on what this board decides you may end up seeing my reply twice.. since it got marked for spam despite me waiting 2 minutes to edit (what on earth??).

If not, here it is.

So it is a GameServers rented server? I'm afraid this is to them to fix the issue as I suspect a port not allowed on your server, I guess the Steam port is maybe the one used by your server to communicate with Steam Workshop (not sure) so maybe it is not open, just remind them the requirement for a Killing Floot 2 server just in case:

- Game port: 7777 (or whatever you force in command line)
- Query port: 27015 (or whatever you force in command line, or whatever you set as "Game port +[27015-777]" OR ELSE "Game port +19238")
- Web Admin port (whatever force in command line or INI)
- NTP port 123 for weekly event
- STEAM PORT which you can not set in command line and which is AUTOMATICALLY CALCULATED FROM THE GAME PORT as follow: "Game port +[20560-7777]" OR ELSE "Game port +12783")

So not sure how KF 2 server workshop works but I guess it uses this Steam port and I also guess if it is not properly opened, it will not work.

Try to see with them but if you rent the server you most likely can not fix problems by yourself.

Damn.. if it's a matter of them fixing something on their side I'm pretty much out of luck.

They're slow to respond and give me generic copy/paste answers I already found myself on google.

It's really strange since the last servers I had were provided by them. No such issues like these.

I'll just be thankful I found a way to get things to work I suppose. That kinda sucks...

I'll send when you wrote above over to them to see what they say (or if they respond).

Thanks.

Hi Nub, I'm sorry to bring up a somewhat dead thread - but I'm experiencing the same issues you describe here. I've even manually added the maps through Filezilla, yet somehow my server isn't letting anyone download them. My friends and I always get "download failed" or other errors, until we subscribe to that map in the workshop (which we don't want, we'd like an easy-access public server).

I'm not really sure what to do, and I've actually played custom maps on your server myself, so I was curious to hear if you'd found a fix to this annoying problem!

Thanks so much man.

Hey there - unfortunately I never got the crew at gameservers to fully understand the problem (even with logs) and the suggestions here.

I'm still adding maps via filezilla and it seems to work fine, just an extra step.

In regards to your problem do you have these settings in your config? If people are having issues downloading the map when they comment I suggest you check the second setting, especially.

I still seem to be having this issue. On gameservers as well. I don't understand this as custom maps used to work fine in early '17 when I was last fiddling with them. Did something change?

Yes, something must have changed on GS's end of things.

I too hosted a server through them in 2017 and had no problems. When I started back up with them last month I was completely lost with the issues I was running into (I was using config files I had saved so no work really should have been required on my end).

Their support team can also be frustrating, so that doesn't help matters.
