For the past 4 months Fel and I have been working hard on a new type of mission map never seen before in KF. It follows a traditional story based map, but has special events and objectives that the player must complete in order to proceed. These events are similar to ones seen in L4D. The map starts players out on a road. From there, players make their way through a sewer system and then to part of the outskirts of a small town. The story which Fel and I are creating will take place over two maps. The second map will start off where the first one leaves off. The second map is still several months away from beta, but the first one is getting close. Game play time for the first map is roughly almost 1 hour. The file size will most likely be a little under 90 MB.

The division of work on the map is as follows:

S281- Map concept, geometry (terrain, buildings, etc.), and detail (A lot of it)

Fel - Special Events (Some of which are interactive, others more cinematic based) and Game Play (Zed Spawns)

As the beta release nears, I will be posting more information about this map and some details about the second map.

this map is 100% epic all the way through,

ive counted 13 things so far as in event sequences and stuff never done before in kf.

This will be a must to play. :D

I wanna make a proposal, though.


Someone should take that Browning .50cal machine gun from the KF mod that never worked correctly, and make it work. :)

I remember playing a map (made by Dextronaut, I think) and I saw a .50 Cal machine gun, I nearly soiled myself with excitment until I realized it wasn't usable.

From that moment I decided that I would like to see a mutator or map-special thing that is the .50 cal machine gun. :eek:

I had the pleasure of a brief playtest on this map thanks to Fel, I would just like to say that I really liked the map, the artistic approach is spot on, feels very legit in concept. Sadly I was kinda in a rush and only had a brief blast but beleive me when I say I cant wait to see and enjoy it in it's full glory.

when you step up to this beautifull gun, your mind will start to race.

"Oh can i use it?! I wonder if i can use it"

you walk up and the gun says. "Press the USE key."

Then you get to feel the raw power of a 50cal blowing the zombies to hell

In other words, its useable ><

I love the work S281 and Fel are doing on this level very nice work and i'm Jealous of their skills :p you guys are going to love the level and all it's pretty epicness i'll stop there to keep from giving spoilers =D

And my hat is off to S281 and Fel as well :D

I talked to TW, they said as long its in the system files (.u) then they will determine whether its whitelist-able or not.

Most likey it will be, since its not a portable mini-gun, its a stationary gun. (meaning you can own zombies only at 2 parts of the map, not the entire time) so its perfectly fine

Just want to say, it is excellent map, only it should be renamed to KF-Hell road to Perdition :D
Also there should be Warning sign issued for this map
"at least 3 layers of armor, and full fridge of "relax" , will be needed if you want to finish this map and survive" :D

,well what you'd expect when Fel has his dirty fingers in it :D
and for those saying KF is way too easy ,i really want to see, you finish this map on suicidal (well i hope the number of zeds didn't got dumbed down from like month ago)

and i believe it is still on this server

i personally find the level to be a lil difficulty as well but it's very much beatable i'd say you'll win about 60% of the time with average players, and yet even tho i'm normally not a big fan of the "story" levels i seem to thrive on this map as a firebug with a katana as a backup weapon.... this may be because it's less of a story map and more of a "lets get the f*** outa this D*** City Pronto!!!" survivor map... at least in my oppinion( which btw i love survivor type progression levels

Love the responses guys! :D The map has gone over 90MB, but will most likely not reach 100MB. This is due to a lot of custom meshes and images that Fel and I wanted to put into the map to give it a more realistic feel. Beta completion is nearing (w00t). We are currently finishing up the last area of the map. After that it will go on Fel's server along with mine for a week of hardcore testing. So in short, prepare yourself to be blown away.;)

Glad to hear you got it working ;) I hope this really does turn out for the best with all the work that you guys have put into it.

The minigun is the XM134 using the 7.62x51mm NATO rounds. We have a functioning model working and are finishing it up. It will feature an overheat bar in the HUD when used to let players know when the gun is starting to overheat. Big thanks to Marco for programming it. :D I promise that you all will love this new weapon.

Its probably the best mission map Ive played so far, and its not even finished yet. Im expecting the final version to be outstanding.

It looks visually amazing, and the custom events make it feel so real. Good job, both of you.

Glad you enjoyed playing the current version hateme. I can't even begin to describe how much work has gone into this map. But it will be worth it in the end. I am going to work as fast as I can on getting map 2 designed so Fel can work on gameplay, since the end of map 1 will leave players wanting more. ;)
