Thought I would just post about a small mission map Fel and I are working on while we finish up the Road to Perdition maps. It will take place on an island with a jungle theme. Gameplay will probably be about 30-50 minutes. Expect a beta of this within a few weeks, as like I said before, it is gonna be a smaller map. I'll post screen shots a little later on as we get more of the map done. It will have a sorta KF-Wyre feel. We haven't decided on an ending yet, but were thinking of a lab within a volcano. If anyone has any ideas feel free to post them. :)

Mission maps are the way to go, im thinking about some things i wanted to see in a map, i will come out with them soon, so il let this post reserved here.

Ok here it is, if the map leads to a volcano, maybe a completely dark, mine style long tunnel ( support specialists to light the way) with dead ends but instructions on the wall forcing the players to stop and read, it would be awesome if KF maps actually had any interactivity with the players, like, switches, equipment that could be operated, surveillance camera (would be cool to have one member guiding others or sending information of threats, or operating slow mechanical doors) and things like that, The Hive is the best map i ever seen.

I am pleased to announce that the map geometry and lighting is about 50% done. Fel and I are going to create all the geometry, lighting, etc before we start on game play. Thanks for the ideas that were posted. We still haven't decided what kind of ending the map will have, so if you have any suggestions please post them.

a no win scenario feeling that you just have to survive for a while then outa nowhere ally troops and motars start droping in and thats how you win =) forget the boss if you can

It looks great, and kind of reminds me of Crysis. Make sure you explain how these zeds got on the island. Perhaps it's Horizons' secret plant in case the government tries to shut it down, or maybe some sort of shipment of zeds crashed on the island along with you? Also, Im not sure what time of day you're going to make it, but jungles are usually pretty humid, maybe you could add a mist to the outside parts of the map? Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the post man. I already have a story for it that will be in the map description to explain it all so it makes sense. It's nothing to fancy but it does the job. As for making it feel humid, the map does already have some effects to give it that feel and there are some others that we can add if it feels to "dry". The island it is on is volcanic so some parts won't be humid at all and instead have the feeling of being very very hot.

Yes and that 1300 degrees will kill. The map geometry is around 90% done and we already have some game play in already. I want to thank everyone so far who has helped Fel and I test the map. Hopefully we can have a beta out within 2 weeks or so for you all.

If there is lava, check out UT2004 - CTF-Magma: was good cave build with one of the nicest lava flow material made (and realistic mesh flow) for UE2.5. (that map was 100% built in Max with all pre-baked light maps - Epic build indeed).
