will TWI ever adopt custom guns (*cough Ivan/carver)

Hey guys, so ive been following some of the amazing modded guns people have poured dozens of hours into. Best example is of course the IVAN/CARVER pack. I think some of the guns in that pack surpass TWI's guns (in quality not power).

So whats the deal? I swear that at one point TWI said they would consider whitelisting or adding ivan/carvers mk23 at one point. Yet nothings happened? We still have the same lame guns and no whitelisted custom guns (to my knowledge).

Seems like a missed opportunity

There are always balance issues to work on, but i agree lol. It would be nice to have certain bits of the pack (others aren't ready), and Braindeads Hunting Rifle, probably the only two things made so far that would pass inspection, on the whitelist. Others, like the relatively new .357 (Still love it, Gartley) and his Medi-shotty, could make it eventually, but aren't near enough balanced yet. TWI has mentioned several times that they'd love to whitelist certain things, but that balance is an issue. so someday... someday....

Even though the Medishotty still has to go through balancing, I think that gun more than any other fits the look and style of Killing Floor. It's beat up looking with scratches and stuff, but also fits the coloring styles of weapons that you see in Killing Floor. One of the things love is that he actually put the medic icon on the side of it like the mp7 has.

When the thing is...alot of them ARE ready. The integration, skins, rigging and most bugs are done. THe only thing left is balance. And tbh the constant balance tweaks that occur arnt going to do a thing. TWI is the end balancer. They know what they want their classes to be able to do. So why cant they just take the completed guns, tweak the stats to what THEY consider balance and just end the wait already!!

Yeah you'r right. Actually I gave up finding the right balance for everything. The community really helps us alot with balancing but to be honest we never know what's the right balance.
With Version 6.0, which will include the KSG we will try to balance the other weapons as much as possible.
However we cann't find the right balance and actually this can only be done by a huge balancing crew like in the KF-Beta or from TWI.

I think TWI should hold out another community Beta testing with the community made weapons (the ones that are good enough in quality), surely this would help balancing the weapons enough so they could be added in the game or at least whitelisted.

Id love to have eg. the Hunting Rifle and that MK pistol in my server but I dont want to kill perk progress for others (personally Im all level 6 so dont care). Some of these weapons are very well balanced imo not to mention very well made in quality.

Yeah, those guns are bloody great in function and should be added in, but I have a feeling that TWI are going to take what these wonderful guys have made, but use different models due to the cries of other players talking about stuff that feels "KF" if you know what I mean. :confused: If they weren't going to do something like that, I would have imagined that they would have included them in an update ages and ages ago.

It'd be nice to see some of the better guns added, but I'd rather not see that high-tech medic rifle added since it just doesn't fit the gritty survival atmosphere. It's a good gun, it just doesn't fit imo.

I'd agree, but the scar is the high-tech rifle of todays armed forces, as is the AA12 - US navy seals weapon of choice. Same with the deagle. just cause they got all scratched up doesn't mean they're not high tech. A texture change might be in order, but the guns only futuristic things are the readout and dart, and the darts already in KF. If they have to get rid of the readout thats fine, but i think the gun fits pretty damn well.
EDIT:I guess the holo sight aint exactly KF - i wonder what kind of iron sights you could give it....

That's completely beside the point! The point is for both weapon function and originality. The AA12 was an obvious choice for its function (there's hardly any alternative model choices anyway, is there?) the SCAR and M14 EBR? ...Probably not. I think the Medic Rifle was pretty damn good for its function, but the model... It's a very post-modern design and to me, looks like a complete alien when sat next to all the current weapons, and it doesn't help for variety when you look at how it has a bullpup design and a holographic sight.

I'd say that the goal with adding new weapons (function goes without saying :rolleyes:) is making sure the weapon adds a little extra flavour by looking different, feeling different, and behaving different to the other guns, but at the same time, managing to still fit in with the current weapons. Think of how you can't simply mix oil and water together.

If someone wants an old unoiled rusty WW2 weapon then he can make it for himself but we just like to do what we like to do.
And replacing a model of a weapon just is like making a whole new weapon as modeling and animating just is 90% of the work.
I think the m99, mk23, fn fal, and the KSG fit perfectly into KF.
And the M7A3 is quite cool imo but noone has to like it.
i have been thinking about making a WW2 weapon, however only Brithis weapons will be accepted. So we just make what we like.
And weapons, which add new stuff will probably never get whitelsited.

Yeah, see, this is exactly what everyone in the mod community is gonna do, make weapons they actually like. I would love to see them all released onto the whitelist and so we can see them on a fat number of public servers, but I'm not overly keen on TWI being like "lol we will take your model/animation/code and fix it up a bit and release it" when they can be filling the game up with things that they intended for in the art department.

I just really don't want anyone to "have to play" with our weapons. If they're whitelisted then it's good enough. Everyone can decide weather he uses them or not.
Many people like our M7A3 and the Puls Rifle from Hemi and others think that it's too futuristic.
Well everyone can decide if he wants to use custom weapons.
But actually I don't know if KF will ever get new weapons or that some will get whitelisted, as this is the most balanced game I've ever seen.

Tbh, i think your weapons are just fine, model- and animationwise. If there is any problems with the IJC weapons, it's that some of them are SEVERELY unbalanced (too powerful and lightweight, at least the FAL but especially M7A3C (<which imo should stay as a Medicweapon ONLY)).

Nontheless, aren't TWI like you know... REALLY BUSY with Red Orchestra right now?

I know that TWI has alot to do atm and I really understand that they have no time at the moment. The M7A3C just is there because many people wanted it. And actually it doesn't hurt anyone at the moment. We will balance it however and we do not intend io get it into the whitelist.

Hah yeah the Husk with his top secret Hydrogen fushion ball ejector :D!
Basically the Husk fuses 2H Atoms to 1 He Atom. The Bond engergy that gets free in this process is tremendous! Thus he only has to carry a small Hydrogen Tank and with his super hightech device he can shoot fushion balls. E=m*c

You mean you've never viewed the game in Highest settings where it's really something that looks like Gollum from LotR holding a can of Hairspray and a lighter? j/k

I think that there is no need to put it in the game though, the official ones already do their job perfectly. If something is going to be added to the game, it should be something that create new gameplay's aspect not just additional firepower to take down the zeds, for sharpy to be precised. I haven't seen anything that replace xbow but the spamming M14 (when it came out and a few version) since the game came out. (not include the everything decap. FP state though)

I love IJC's guns and i would say that they are best for modded servers though. Whitelist or not is other story, but i preferred graylist :rolleyes:.
