The one thing that concerns me is that it seems like Tripwire is not going to offer a decent amount of servers.
Most of the online games nowadays offers a good number of servers AND allow dedicated servers. But it seems like we will be strictly dependent on paying / hosting our own Dedicated Servers.
This was a really good opportunity for Tripwire to step in and offer servers in different regions for the Matchmaking system. Again, they should allow dedicated servers, but on top of that they could offer a decent number of servers.
Even games like Evolve offered multiple servers of their own during the beta / release. They even offered servers for regions like South America.
It might not see like a huge problem, but for example if someone from a certain region doesn't have online dedicated servers near them they might be forced to join a North American server with high ping or just straight not playing the game. This directly hurts the playerbase and longevity of the game.
Expecting the players to pay for Game Server Providers in order to play a game that they already paid for is something that should stay in the 2004~2008 era of online gaming.
The easier you allow the players to find servers (without paying and hosting) the more online players you have.
If you let the playerbase be dependent on dedicated servers you might lose a significant number of online players in regions outside the US, and the more online players you have the better the community becomes, more discussions in different forums, more people talking about the game on twitter, more videos on youtube, more streams on twitch, etc.
Again, if you live in the US it might not look like a big deal for you, but it can hurt regions like South America.
