I know there's some measure of destructibility in ROHOS from that vid with the arty... but will tanks be able to destroy fences, not too thick walls, etc.?

Was always frustrating to see a tank get stuck by a 3 inch thick piece of wood.

Our destruction system allows mappers the freedom to pick what can be destroyed. So....

does that mean wooden boxes, doors, fragile objects and some cover can be destroyed by grenades, artilery or tank shells?

We aren't fully going into the system just yet, so you will have to wait for more detailed information.

not really. buildings do not get completely destroyed. even from atomic bomb explosions, collapses buildings still produce rubble heaps and piles. so a flat map? probabaly not going to happen even if you made everything totally destructible to its foundation. besides, the weapons in this game do not have the ability to level the numerous buildings in one map. unless they're introducing carpet bombing.

Yea, hence the skeleton buildings ;)

hence there was no need to say anything about flat maps, because they would be impossible anyway.

I see the DE tech requiring an increased level of map making skills, and something I'm looking forward to seeing fully utilized, so maps with developed DE is what I'll be most interested in playing.

Btw, anticipating the consequences of new skill requirements may also be evidenced in the prior recruitment and preparation of the Rising Storm development team (just a guess).

So this means that when I see an enemy soldier standing next to factory I can shoot the factory's chimney with my P4's cannon and kill the guy with rubble or the chimeny falling over him? I'm basaicly asking whether flying junk and rubble is dangerous to players.

Lets hope so. Bullet impact spawling has been something I've mentioned wanting for awhile, and having it would make much of the whole "suppression debate" moot also.

It all depends on the depth of the DE/penetraion effects programming available, and what is possible with it as results. At this point I wouldn't put any of this beyond TWI's capabilities now, or what might be part of their future plans.

(check out the Rock-Paper-Shotgun tanking preview interview to get an idea of some of the "penetration effects" possibilites here)
