Sorry but can you please stop repeating yourself that the game isn't finished, we know it isn't finished.

Is BF3 finished? Of course it isn't but still there is footage, why? Because the devs know that it is selling their game! <--the end

If you know the game isn't finished then stop expecting to see things.

If you think all EA/Dice have done to make the videos you've seen of BF3 is just "record some footage" you are mistaken.

I do not expect to see anything, which is why I said "I know we won't see anything until they are good and ready".

I never mentioned anything about what had gone into the making of BF3 vids, so why are you mentioning it? I don't care about BF3 vids because I won't be playing that game.

Nobody here is asking for an 'all bells and whistles hollywood blockbuster', just some fraps footage of actual gameplay. The same gameplay we keep hearing about where Guppy owns everyone, then we can stick it under peoples noses and get some excitement going.

I have seen enough to say that I want the game and it will be good. I'd like to see more but I'm not going to go begging for more footage.

Then you really don't get the message.

I allready know i'll be buying Ro2, there is no doubt about that, and the only thing i would personally be interested in seeing, is any new features we don't allready know about, and gameplay photage is not going to give me that, i pretty much know how RO plays, having been a fan since the the game made it's first debut on UT2003, and i can imagine how the new features would work with that.

I don't want gameplay photage for my own personal ammusement, i want it to promote the game, i want it so i can finally have something to show my freinds that i know will impress them, and get them excited for RO2. I want it because i see the reputation RO2 is getting out there, and it's not good, it is one of confusion and doubt, and it hurts me to see this, and i fear the damage may become ireparable, and the game will be passed compleately over in favour of BF3 if something isen't done, and soon.

Also, i'm not buying this "it's not finished" line, because it is finished enough for them to make a stable compile, and show it off LIVE at conventions, and the game is very near featurelock. And you know what? Aside from the terrible video quality (because thease vids are recorded on a camcorder pointed at a TV), the game looks really good when they do it! I have seen more done with less!

You absolutely could make a good gameplay video from what we've allready seen, the build we saw at GDC was certainly up to par, and obviously, since we have allready seen the videos, we know they feel it's good enough to show (and with good reason).
We just need to see that in the right setting, recorded with Fraps, and showing off some real gameplay, then we can get people excited for this game, and dispell the myth that RO2 is vapourware and has 1999 era graphics.

This is wat i read on steam 5 sec. ago from Yoshrio

We put up a weekly dev blog, so tune in for the latest RO 2 information. Plus there will be more global RO 2 news as we move through the beta phases. We just hit art content lock so the art team can now focus on pretty pictures and movies rather than content creation.

So i think (hope) they are making some new Vids and screenshots :D

QFT.

I feel like the village idiot pimping out two year old footage to people. However they always do the same "wow this looks good". That is when they watch all the footage, sadly to get an idea for all of the features you ahve to watch about an hours worth of video.

its definitely true, there are those of us who know we will get RO2. And Im sure many of us mention this game a lot to people we know who play games, but in todays 'uber hype train' market until a game becomes a must buy for someone (usualy a good experience with a company or a series), it really has to perform and have constant bombardment in effect lest it be washed away by all of the other games in constant bombardment mode...

Sometimes you just have to feed the wolves. Toss out a few new screenshots or a video of a rocket barrage and people will be satisfied for another month.

hmmm i still wonder if RO2 will win VE3D's "Most Anticipated FPS Game of 2011"......especially considering it dominated the votes taking home the award for "Most Anticipated FPS Game of 2010" last year :p

The soundtrack is already finished, the game is stable enough to give live previews of, I don't believe they can't do a trailer. TWI has a group playtest every week(?), surely after several hours of playing the game they can scrounge up 3 minutes of edited footage where the game isn't glitching.

Dailymotion, youtube, facebook, metacafe, are all free services, make movies, and interviews is not complicated.
We do not know anything about a game that must leave by 2011, how do you sell? If no one knows = nobody buys.

We fans, we are many, and often have free time, just take a member of the forum, give the beta and tell him to do movies.
It does not take science, it just takes a bit of intelligence.
Their marketing is wrong, largely because the network is free, and they did not know how to use!

My message has been deleted 4 times, I hope this is published!

I've mentioned this before. While we do run the game in a full playtest several times a week, we do not do so on a fully cooked all graphics on build. So recording those tests would make the game look worse than it actually is.

As to doing a cooked build, setting up time to actually do one takes a coder a day or two, so we have to schedule cooked builds in advance into their schedules as they are very busy.

More on the point of graphics, we just hit art content lock (with a few items playing catch up), so the art team has been too busy up to this point to focus on creation of media not vital to the development of the game. That will be changing now.

We understand that everybody wants more info and media. But we have to be careful about how we release it and what we release. As people have said, showing the game when it doesn't look its best (the shaky cam videos) makes people ask questions.

We are still a small team (just over 20 people) and everybody is hard at work making the game. We thank you for your patience and understanding in the matter.

Thanks for the update Yoshiro !

Good to know the team is hard at work, just make sure all the devs get enough fluids and sugar during work hours, (and go easy on cafeeine), we dont want anibody colapsing before the game is released... :D

I must have missed that. That makes a lot more sense in context.

Glad to hear things are coming along swimmingly, and I look forward to seeing what the art team cooks up. I was very impressed with the "No Surrender" trailer.
