The RPG metagame was to reward players who consistently played the game and kept it populated. Instead it rewards people who farm bots and unlock everything and reach max level in a week.

Well, that was worth it. That was totally worth putting in unlocks for.

I play on near empty servers a lot, trying to fill them up. Really loving my 10.0 k/d right now.

What did I do in this thread to deserve you negging me? I'm stating a fact: the metagame is so easily exploited it might as well not be there. I did not want to end up like this, but you know what? When I'm trying to fill up a server I have to play with bots and a few human players. I end the round with 400 points and I think about all the people who are playing 4 times as long as I am and getting half that. It's just broken.

It doesn't make any sense to me either. It bums me out to see 24/7 RANK UP ON DEFENSELESS GOONS!!! servers in this game.

Other than some bugs that will be worked out, the leveling/unlock system is my only real peeve about this game. I just think it would have been better without it entirely.

I think the class/weapon stat increases are a good idea, but it can create a artificial margin between those who have been playing for a long time and those who just started. Players who have been playing a long time are already going to be better, and now newbs have to deal with that plus stat bonuses. I can see the mentality of some of the stat bonuses, a person would be more accurate over time, they would probably reload more quickly, etc. but it may not be the best for balance purposes.

Sorry, kind of drifting off topic...

While I understand where you are coming from with your frustration, and I do believe that people should be rewarded for doing things the right and honorable way, at the end of the day this is still an FPS and personal skill with your keyboard and mouse isn't improved with "XP", it's improved with experience. Real, actual, game playing experience.

You're fundamentally right. Ignore the dislike post trolls -- it's so easy to hit that button!

I feel so cheap when I go to bot farming servers to level up. It's super fast and easy ... and yet kind of fun in its own way but not because of leveling up guns. Sometimes its fun to have some mindless action, but you certainly shouldn't get rewarded for it like you do when killing real players.

Concur on bots shouldn't count. The problem is at this point, it'll mean a complete reset so everyone levels up 'legit' from humans again. Not that I'm against it, but some might be.

So the logical solution is scrub the weapon-leveling aspect entirely! Who's with me?! :D :IS2:

Argument is void; plenty of players are less effective than bots.

"The RPG metagame was to reward players who consistently played the game and kept it populated. Instead it rewards people who farm bots and unlock everything and reach max level in a week."

As the game is now, I think you should really really stop this discussion and instead be happy that these players are playing. Stop worrying about the stats system and your level etc. If you really care that much about such imo silly things...maybe world of warcraft is more for you eh?

throw it straight into the trash. i wouldn't mind a bit losing out on the lousy achievements that i earned in the last 420 hours. but for gods sake, do not keep them and reset the stats!

But that's hardly possible if it gives you straight up advantage over other players (and quite much if you ask me).

It makes me really angry when you sprint into a room at the same time as an opponent, both spot each other at the same time and yet he shoulders his weapon instantly because he has done some serious grinding, and drills you in the half second it takes you to ADS.

I think the main reason people bot farm is that they don't like the meta game, they don't like beeing at an artificial disadvantage, they don't like not getting various gear (gear which is not side-grades, but straight up upgrades), and they don't find it fun to grind for it, so they just want it overwith as fast as possible.

The progression system isen't just cosmetic but has real effects on your abillity to play, it isen't voulentary (you are still restricted by it in the unranked mode), many people don't find it enjoyable at all, and that my freinds is the problem.

Removing the abillity to bot farm could also have very negative effects on the player counts for this reason, i think there's a lot of people who would just ragequit the game if this system becomes even more forced, even more unescapable, why spend your free time dealing with something you don't enjoy?

The system is poorly designed to begin with, and doesen't fit the game, but forcing it is the worst thing they could have done, why is there no option to play without it? Even CoD gives you that despite how progression driven that series has now become.

Well, i guess i know why, TWI knew that the vast majority of the RO community wanted nothing to do with this system, but felt that progression would be very important to reach a new and more mainstream audience. There would have been a real risk of most the day-1 servers and players running a progression-free mode if one had been given, and TWI didn't want that.

The irony is, even most of TWI's new fans also dislike the progression system, the reasons and degree may differ, but it never had many defenders, and they have only become fewer with time.

I'm not a competitive player so I really enjoy co-opping against the bots. Before bots showed up in the servers I played a lot of offline games when not in the mood for total warfare. I am very glad I can get rewards for my playtime even when I'm not playing people. My favourite matches are with about six human players on each side and the rest bots. Having the dummies rushing across open terrain only to be mowed down adds to the carnage and every player can feel like a asset instead of being beat down by veterans nonstop.

I am a hardcore computergamer who likes to play casual. Just want to have fun and not in any way have my gametime stressful and/or angry.
In my opinion time spent ingame really counts whether you are playing full teams or "farming". I don't call it farming actually. It's just playing.

The unlocks are in many ways contrived. But changing appearance with experience is still a very cool feature.

Btw. Never ironsight in cc! That's why you die.
