Prussotroll's Bridge
I see, and I think adding the mkb42 is definitely cool... but my issue is that if they wanted to add a bunch of cool weapons, they shouldn't have made a game based on one battle... granted I think its cool because Stalingrad is one of the largest and bloodiest battles ever, but as far as weapon choice and uniform/equipment choice they should have made another broad eastern front game which could accurately incorporate all the weapons. It's their game though and yeah I completely understand them pushing the rules a bit for the sake of fun. You're right in that if we don't want certain things, it can be turned off. I more than likely will play realism and then every now and then go to the relaxed servers... I think its a healthy mix up for the game. My only fear is that I won't be able to play in a realism server here in the US, because there aren't any and the only relaxed servers will be 24/7 bologna... but we'll cross that bridge when we get there!

I agree, but what good is it to say that now?

Heck, we're just under two months away from release, I think that telling them that they should have chosen a different time-frame/theatre now is quite pointless. I'm not too happy with the weapon selection, there would have been far better choices of weapons that also never were featured in any WW2 game that were used in far greater numbers than the entirely doubtful Mkb.42 or MP-40II, but what good does it do?

All we can do is deal with it, and switch off/mod anything that we don't like. Sounds easy?

It IS easy!

This is only one side of the story.
Because a major pro for this limited theatre is that there is a compelling (speculative) campaign/story for the single player and multiplayer campaign instead of just a bunch of maps/battles across a time-span of 5 years.

I agree with you, but it's just part of the story;)

Also I have to agree with Lemon, it might be a coincidence, but the Mkb42 is a little bit too present in released screens.

Well it was just my statement/opinion not really a suggestion because I know its way too late for that. Hopefully they'll add more features later... which they probably will, Its just that I have failed to read about it because I'm not on the forums that often. Anyways thanks for the understanding guys. Looking forward to seeing you guys on the battlefield.

Aye that pretty much covers all the ground that we discussed last night, and I totally agree on every point. There is a reason I have stayed away from this flame war for the most port, and that's because it has ceased to be a discussion anymore.

Even though I agree on some points with many of the posters (particularly with the PPSH problem Grobut has pointed out), I see no purpose in posting my thoughts in that thread where I know they'll just be overwhelmed by a multitude trollish whining posters. What's even the point?

Yeah it turned into an anger contest... I accidently posted my criticisms on the Winter German hero without any knowledge of the massive realism war post on the screenshots thread. I just started reading it and then stopped because it became retarded...

I want to add one more thing, it seems like TWI really tries to piss certain people off by including the Mkb.42 in nearly every media outlet. :D

ahhhh this explains everything! TWI are in fact, the greatest trolls ever! :D

your post was everything and more that I wanted to say, but couldn't find a way to condense it to less than 5,000 characters.

thanks ;)

As some TWI guy said, they are makign screenshots etc to win over those that are not already excited about RO2. Makes perfect sense to have many screenshots with the sexy mkb42 =).

When the COD crowd comes and can't get the "cool" weapon they saw from the screenies, they will start a thread (more likely threads) that will make other threads look pale in comparison.

TWI destroys their own game and community with these things. I guess nothing is enough for people, i think scenario itself, Battle of Stalingrad, the greatest battle in history of mankind, should be enough for people to buy this game. I could name dozens of more these stupid miserable **** prototype guns which were used in stalingrad, homemade tokarevs berdan rifles etc etc.

So why then TWI dont add every god damn gun that were used in that bloody battle? It would be so easier just to stay with the guns people know that were generally used. I want information how many Mkb42 were sended to Army Group South before i can be fine with this.

i still dont understand what the problem is , you'll be able too set up your server without the stuff you find so annoying.......and if there being used on another server why should that cause you any grief.

+1, Quoted for truth.
Why the flying f would anyone care if others play in a certain way when we've the options? We now have the possibility to adapt and tweak the game to our liking as opposed to 90% of all the titles out there that enforces a certain way to play the game.

TWI is not destroying their game in anyway, instead they're opening up the possibilities for everyone. They won't add every single gun that was used in the battle, simply because it would be unpractical and take a huge amount of time.

They've stated the reasons for including the mkb42, atvs etc now live with it and if you don't like it you can disable them. Why is that so hard for you to grasp? Simply run a server or join a server that has mkb42 and avts or anything else you don't like disabled.

(for crying out loud there is nothing to even whine about in the first place)!

And here we are again, as soon as a sensible thread rises up to try to clear things out AND even after a couple of terrific posts are posted, it just takes a couple of people to take everything back to the state of the "other" thread. Seriously now, this thread is about how to be polite and express your opinion about certain aspects of the game that you either agree or disagree, not tell us once again what a bad decision they made by including a couple of extra weapons.

I too was uber-hyped about the realism in RO when I first started playing it, but after a while I came to the conclusion that it's the gameplay and the way I choose to play each round (eg. charge or stay back and support) that I like so much and the reason why I check these forums every day. I don't come here to duscuss how the threads of the uniforms are sewed or what weapons exist in the game, but how they actually work. I am more concerned if the feel of those weapons (as well as the more common ones) is right rather than if I once in a while see a player or myself with one of them.

Sigh, and here's where I remember why I avoid the forum for the most part.

There's a fine line between maintaining semblance of historical accuracy, and having to be so anally retentive about it you might as well say "YOU GUYS CAN'T WIN THIS MAP, WE'RE SUPPOSED TO WIN IT HAPPENED!"

I just can't understand how people who are so knowledgeable in the field of history can be so utterly dense when it comes to applying it, and degenerate into childish brats who demand satisfaction and entitlement.

I'll just be over here, in the corner, enjoying myself when the game comes out. You will be too. That should be good enough.

Agreed. In the end, most of us will get it. There is a difference between constructive criticism and attacking the developer.

You average person will think it is an AK-47, or at best an STG-44. So I doubt the average person will have a reaction like the following:

"Oh wow, a new gun never featured in a game before!"

:p

What many of you fail to realize is there is only going to be ONE available. There is only ONE person who will be able to use it at any given time. So out of 64 players, ONE will be armed with an MKb42.

ONE!!!

Secondly, as it's a hero weapon you won't see any heroes for at least the first month. Even then few people will attain that rank as quickly. You are not going to see heroes armed with scoped MKb42's in every server on day one of release.

Agreed they will say the following:
"It has got awesome scope and bayo attachment?!?!?!"

Not even mentioning ski-mask.
However this discussion does not belong here. Begone in IS2's name!!!
