Why Not A Real Homefront style mod?

I am surprised that no one has tried a real Homefront type mod. Using just real citizens against enemy invaders? (like the movie Red Dawn)

Not military types, like the other game, but regular people that are trying to defend their home against foreign invaders?
Real counter/insurgents, homegrown.

Various maps in urban and country settings? Just a thought.

I did like the idea behind the game Homefront, after all John Milius wrote it and I too have a soft spot for Red Dawn

It's a shame the game wasn't very good so I would like to see it done again

People in war use uniform so that those who dont have nothing to do with
war wouldnt suffer. Sadly that doesnt work so well, but is better than
nothing.

Those who fight without uniform are now days called terrorist
(on world war 2 they were called partisans, because they were
on winning side in the end.)
The bad thing on fighters without uniform is that, soldiers cant
anymore know who are enemies and who are civilians and they
start to shoot everything that looks suspicious, which leads
to actions what happen in Middle East.

So nothing fancy on "home front"

I agree, Homefront was a terrible game. Not very original after all.

Not as terrorists, but I believe we Americans would take up arms against foreign invaders of this country.

Absolutely we would.. and my understanding is it was definitely a bullet point in any Soviet invasion plans.

"Militia" would be the perferred term by the invadees.
"Insurgant" would be the perferred term by the invaders.

That said.. I'd be for it.. Luckily Iplayed the Homefront demo before shelling out for the whole game.. had some good ideas, but wasn't for me.

I sorta think that .. oo that RTS game.. same idea.. implemented the concept better then Homefront.

I've always wanted to see some insugency maps in RO. Soviet or Yugoslavian partisans on sabotage and ambush missions against the invaders similar to the films Defiance and Come and See (which is now called terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan, as Susi pointed out). I'd support a small mod like this, but I think it's kinda hard for it to play like partisan activity instead of like a normal RO battle. I don't know if it's possible to randomize spawn and objective locations so there can be surprise attacks/ambushes and patrolling by the defenders.

That's why I think Homefront and Red Dawn are crap. Too idealistic and too much propaganda, demonizing the invaders (though I don't mind how SS soldiers are depicted in Come and See, because what happened to the villages are facts and I've heard stories of SS soldiers having tremendous pleasure from killing the "lesser races"). I think the OP is suggesting a WW2 partisan mod, or at least that's what I want.

They are called terrorists eh? Terrorist are those who try to achieve their goals by commiting violent acts that create fear, their targets are mostly civilians.

People who fight aginst their invaders and for the freedom of their country and they certainly aren't terrorists!

The more i work on my maps the more i feel they dont resemble WW2
So i am debating somthing like this...i suppose i should get it over with and start trying to assemble a team

Most likely WW2 Freedom Fighting on American Soil against very technologically advanced Wehrmacht. Nothing Science fiction. Just alternate history of What if - Germany won in the European theater and we are tied up in the pacific.

Well I bet with you there would also be some!!! american extremist who would do anything do archieve their goals, even with civilian casaulties. Would be the same as in iraq/afghanistan. Even when from lets say 10.000 people just 5 would do things like that you would just hear from the violent things those 5 people do, not the fight for freedom the other 9.995 people are trying. So in the end all those people would be called terrorist.
