Why is the crossbow so unrealistic?

We all love Killing Floor, right? Most/Some of us love the sharpshooter, right? We all know that the crossbow is a "TAD" unrealistic, right? I mean think about it! If you fire a crossbow in real life, it wouldn't explode their head, and to make things worse it keeps going and penetrates about 3 other specimens no problem! If you fired a crossbow in real life, it wouldn't do anything like that, it would probably go through the victim and stick out the other side and probably impale the person behind them. It gets worse, there is absolutely no drop in the arrow what so ever and it doesn't even slow down! What else is there, ah yes the reload! If you've seen people fire a crossbow in real life, they always place it on the ground and pull the crossbow wire/string wind it back up or something, meanwhile in KF just lightly pull on this grib and insert an arrow. A crossbow in real life, the string gets pulled back like half a foot or so and it fires the bolt at quite some speed and eventually will drop/hit a target and stop, meanwhile in KF u pull it back a centimeter or two and it launches the arrow faster than a shotgun pellet and decaps like 5 specimens! Ok thats all I can think of, anyone is welcome to add to this if they want.

just imagine you're not holding a crossbow but you're actually holding an artic warfare and it will all start to make sense

The zeds are spliced with vampire epigenetics and the bolts are wooden stakes... the original story the legends are based on actually say "the seat of thought", not "heart". This is combined with the projectile being fired from a CROSSbow.

Because that's so much more realistic than a zombie apocalypse.

Yes, why yes it is. You see by the term 'zombie' it means the dead, being reanimated and killing everything living around them while some demented scientists right now, under our very noses, could be making some sort of genetically enhanced clones to be made into troops in the not-so-far future. They've made pigs glow in the dark, put human ears on the back of mice (which work), and made livers from one cell. Mind you killing floor is set about a decade from now I believe anyway, who knows what science could have accomplished by then...

While zombies coming up from the grave, meh...unless we really pissed off Satan somehow...and even zombies by which you mean 'infected', like Left 4 Dead is still far rarer than some secret man-eating experiments escaping contamination, although far-fetched it is very plausible, radical as it sounds. Though 'infection' is plausible too if per say, like in '28 days later' they mixed like super Rabies with like super AIDS.

Still, my money is on the genetic experiment outbreak :D If it were to occur it anyway, it would mean most of the human population would have more chance to survive anyway.

Oh and YoYoBatty, it is a game after all! Though your point is still very valid and I support it, despite half of me wanting to keep that shiny xbow...

EDIT: No its not set in the future, #facepalm# but still...

Plus I'm sure there'd be wind affecting the bolt in the outdoor maps, like wyre, farm, westlondon etc.

I think the most unrealistic weapon for me is the LAW. The reason is because it's so friggin weak (ie. cannot one-shot fleshpounds or scrakes on certain difficulties/player numbers). If you saw someone with an xbow versus someone with the LAW, you'd be terrified of the latter.

I've been reading your last few posts YoYo, and it sounds way different to your regular posts. I am sad to say that i think your forum account has been hacked, by the spelling and grammar.

And i think that the Xbow is fine the way it is performing now, except balance and such. There is much more pressing matters such as the LAW being a joke and the M14 being OP.

How a single 9mm to the head explodes it aswell is beyond me.

If the round is a hollow point round it could jolly well explode the back of the head easily. But yea it's KF so such dramatic death cinematics is really necessary to keep the game fun otherwise people might complain about the game being dull.

actually a "zombie" type disease is more likely than a genetic experiment outbreak at this point
if some mad scientist devoted his life to tweaking the rabies virus to actually effect our brain the way it does animals we would all be doomed

but you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning while getting mauled by a bear from space than that happening
