My opinion below:
- In RO1, it all fits together. For example, take a distance of 200m.
1) 200m seems further away because there is no zoom
2) 200m seems longer because you move slower
3) 200m seems further away with regards of how it is out of reach of the smg's, due to their increased recoil
The combination of 1), 2) and 3) create a believable (albeit not strictly realistic) environment:
You can pretend 200m is in fact 400m (for example) and it all fits:
1) Walking that distance takes the same time as walking 400m,
2) Looking at that distance feels the same as looking at an object 400m away,
3) Shooting at an object at that distance with an smg feels like it is 400m away and thus, out of reach for an smg
-> It works and you have great gameplay, pixel hunting and all.
- Now we have Classic, where 1) and 3) are taken away, but 2) remained.
So now we no longer have that sweet 1) - 2) - 3) combination and the illusion breaks: it suddenly becomes painfully obvious that you are moving terribly slow.
And THAT is why I prefer Realism over Classic in it's current form. Once they get that 1) - 2) -3) combination back, I will like it all over again (in addition to Realism), just like I liked previous RO's.
