i still play RO1 because its unpredictible. sure some maps have choke points, or a favorite door that that nazi goose steps into my sights from!

two or three days ago i was in a t34/85 with 3 people, i was driving. tank was angled perfectly. we took about 8 to 10 hits on a red hull. 8.8 KWK 36 l/56 and 7.5 KWK 42 L/70 shells just bounced off. we killed about 3 pz4 f and H models and a panther. my gunner said "i cant fu*king belive were still alive". the next time i did that i got owned.

i played the hell ut of COD2, and i know were your going to spawn, where your going ot run, where your going ot hide, and how to kill you. im a very eficent bolt action killing machine!

in RO1 i have no idea what your going to do. if i see 5 russians running across this street i set up my MG only to relize thows 5 russians are now bayo charging me from the flank. or they simply dont use that street anymore. its an anoyance but so realistic and fun.

RO2 is worring me. it needs to be UNBALLANCED. the ppsh should have realistic dammage and ROF. not COD it and make it have a high ROF but innacurate and underpowered for ballance. this unballancing makes it unpredictible.

predictible games i hate. i wont play anything after COD2. becasue it has hard/soft core modes.

ro2 is going to have a hard/soft core mode. this scares me. it does nto have perks and crap liek that, and focuses on realism....hopefully. making thsi game open to teh masses means that im going to have to put noobs complaning abotu bullet drop being unrealistic in there place becasue tehy have never shot a gun out side of a game. i own a m1 garand, i cnat hit a deer if my life depended on it becasue i have **** aim last hunting season. but the rilfe has PRECISSION (grouping of the bullets). also they ballaned killing floor. i cna under stand some of it, but soem of it i cant. its P VS ai so who cares about ballance. WW2 was not ballanced at all.

the m1/SVT had a huge advantage over bolts and the g41/43. the m1 garands bolt has 3 locks that it wedges in. by teh time the gas hits the OPROD and unlocks the bolt, the bullet is long gone. meaning its jsut as accurate as a bolt! and is emi auto incase a german sneeks up clsoe!!!

again, keep it unpredictible. the removing of 2 clicking bolts takes that "**** I FORGOT TO CLICK" out of RO2. but hopefully tripwire will continue to be amazing and the mod base expand.

The smgs have been redone so I think they will better reflect their real world counter parts.

Think of the relaxed realism as an introduction to the masses. It will get them in the door and I am sure a few will try a realism server and like it. That is not going to happen if they don't even by the game if they think its hardcore.

The click to bolt has saved me a few times. Maybe this will be tweaks so its an option or on idea i had was to hold the click to cycle the bolt instead of double clicking.

I only ever forgot to bolt my rifle once... it was hilarious.

I hope this feature doesn't get removed. I find it as a hell of a balancing point and it does a lot for realism - I wouldn't be suprised if a soldier in real life actually forgot to bolt his rifle.

ok TW, first psot i have made that does not have the first epople being trolls! we want the same RO1 bolt system.

its been mentioned so many tiems before, and its not that hard for people to learn. clikc = bang.........you expect 2nd click to go bang but it rebolts..........hum, every odd click 1,3,5,7 = a bang. and every even = a relaod...... ok that took 5 senonds for any retard to figure out, plus its in the instructions......but sence the easyness of MW2 and black ops people dont read the instructions.......make america read again TW!!!!

i have forgot to rebolt hunting.... in real life up here in montana. its not fun! or i load 7 into my M1 (cant laod 8 and have no bullet in chamber) and forget to rock the action and hte gun gives me a nice "click"!! **** happens!!

I assume a realism server will have things like incoming fire direction indicator and such disabled? Man I hope so. I'm hoping for a RO experience but with improved mechanics (MG placement, use of cover, no teleporting into and out of tanks please please please.. etc.) and graphics, don't need a whole redo of the game as RO still rocks.

BTW manual reading is officially dead, even for upcoming game designers (which would explain why it's dead and things like quest arrows in RPGs) :p

Might I suggest a little reading of the FAQ's about RO:HoS on your part. I think you would find it quite enlightening.

why i still play RO1

Because its best WWII FPS to date.

Tell me one other game which combines these features:
- Lean
- Weapon resting
- Bullet and shell drop over distance
- Indoor and huge outdoor (30+ buildings with many enterable stories)
- Armor angling - shells bouncing
- Dismemberment due to explosion
- Mod tools + total conversion mods (DH to just name one)
- 4.99$ pricing
- ... and many more.

Been meaning to but hadn't spent the time finding it to dig it out ;)

Anyway I've done it now and I'm happy. IMO not a bad way to do it, I'm sure there will be realistic servers out there and I can see folks from relaxed coming in and joining up once they get the hang of it and want more.

"Realism Settings: 2 Settings. Relaxed Realism and Realistic. Relaxed realism will include all of the new interface helpers. Realistic will be for the more hardcore players, and will have some of the new interface helpers disabled. Server admins will be able to set up a custom configuration that picks and chooses which features to have."

Which is total bull. This is why I don't still play vanilla RO.

Same reason, at least for tank maps. Ping pong is not that fun with tanks.
Inf. maps are usually made for 32 players, which makes them too crowded for 50 players.

Yeah I had trouble living with the tanks. In a realistic leaning game, suddenly getting hitpoints for tanks is a bit of a downer. And the deflection thing was nuts. I've had Tiger shells bounce off clown car at extream angles. But that's not really a complaint, I still am amazed on what they did with RO with how little they had.

-----

And as Omar says more on the topic '- Dismemberment due to explosion'

Ahh that brings back memories of my first RO days.

"WTF!! You gotta be kidding me" as he sees a body minus a limb or two tossed high into the air only to land and get tossed again as another shell hits.

Also rag dolls instead of overly done death animations. First time I smged a guy coming down stairs and walked over his body as it slid down....
"Man that's actually disturbing"

That and shooting a guy on a roof and watching the body go limp and slide down and off.... or looking out a window and seeing a body drop past :p

Waiting at a window above a tank thinking. "come on, pop the hatch... take a peek"

I still play because I just got the game. Like wise I will continue to play because one of my rifles is in this game. Then theres the up side of how realistic the game is. Its good to have a game that gives a challenge where you might succeed or you might give away your position if your attack fails and end up getting killed.

One of the biggest things for RO is that I never think "Thats Bull****!!!!" I always feel that if I got shot, it was because I ****ed up, or that I just had some bad luck, not because the game screwed me. When you point your rifle, it goes where you point, so if you don't hit, thats your fault. That and I love the slower gameplay than say CoD.

To the original poster: RO2 is everything RO1 is, just better. It is more intense, more in-depth, more immersive, more deadly, and more scary. You are going to love it.

Well said.... far too often we hear someone blurt out BS! Or some other comment attempting to nullify the fact that they caused their own demise. I find myself trying to blame outside circumstances too but the truth is, I got nailed because of my own combat errors.
