A message to the "warring" members of the Tripwire and Darkest Hour Communities.

Brought to you by the Tripwire Interactive Staff and Darkest Hour Team.

For years, members of these two communities have waged a war at the expense of others. With labels of "they hate us, they don't care about our opinions, rivet counters, lairs" and more thrown back and forth. We stand united before you with this message. This ends now.

Members of both communities have declared the others forums to be hostile. Like it or not, this is true because members of each have treated each other with hostility. We at Tripwire have taken a firm stance against this. The Darkest Hour forums are less moderated but we hope you can take it upon yourselves to do the same. What both communities as a whole should foster is civil and constructive discussions. There will always be "the bad egg", but he should stand out in the crowd, not blend in. So wipe the slate clean and start again.

We know many members are interested in Alan's latest posting on tanks. If you feel you have something to add to this we are glad to hear it. This message up to this point is mirrored on both the Tripwire and Darkest Hour forums.

Feel free to disagree, keep and open mind, and learn new things along the way!

I've always loved DH and have never completely understood a lot of the hate. Although that didn't save me from getting (and letting myself) drawn in.

Never played DH, tbh. Not for lack of interest so much as lack of time. Never even realized there was any sort of tension outside of that [LETS NOT NAME NAMES] character a while back, and I thought he was some sort of lone idiot anyway.

Only played DH once, haven't been able to download any maps since (not from servers, not from the site) so couldn't play once uninstalled.

But it's a mod, should be like brother and sister (which get along)

I have loved both RO and DH as well and I admit I have been drawn into some arguing. Not so much over the facts in certain posts (some others know more than me and I am trying to learn more), just in the manner that some posters have tried to present them. As a result, I haven't necessarily helped the conversations along.

Never noticed any of the hostility tbh, not on these forums at least. I've seen some pretty negative posts on the DH forums though, but most of those were made by [LETS NOT NAME NAMES]. He was a **** stirrer for sure. But he's on a permanent vacation now. So IMO there is no hostility between the communities, but a few trolls would like you to believe otherwise. Both RO and DH are great.

Ugh it's about time there was some official word on this. I've never been understand all the hate going back and forth between the DH and TWI forums. It's really immature, silly, and is totally unjustified. DH wold be nowhere without RO, and the RO community must acknowledge that great ideas have come from DH.

It's totally ridiculous. Hopefully this will be reciprocated on the DH forums.

Let's just hope that this is the end of the silliness between these two communities.

Pffft. Apology NOT accepted. EVERYONE knows that TWI is completely blinded by their own egos, and is totally unable to accept simple historical, indisputable facts. I know/knew a few of the DH devs personallly but ive never seen this hostility between the two communitys? Is it bad? I love both games one as much as the othere although if I play one more than the othere these days its because ive been palying RO since the first beta and DH is just a little more refeshing sometimes.

I played DH for a time, had no issues with it's community in general, or any of it's developers.

What I have been linked to by others on the DH forums has generally been needless TWI bashing, likely from a troublesome small number - (like Tomcat says) many of the *ahem* "realism enthusiasts" always seem unhappy.
