Brah, the thing is, it's not that I don't think someone would do that in a combat situation, but pulling out the sidearm would exponentially easier than trying to whip that big ol thing around.
Have you ever done weightlifting? (not bragging here, I'm a stick)
A barbell weighs 45 lbs: ever so slightly less than an empty PTRS
I could not imagine moving a barbell in any direction in any short amount of time, especially holding it by one end; the other end would immediately crash to the floor, and a barbell isn't nearly as long as a PTRS.

Yes PTRS is even longer then a barbell. so weight distribution goes AWAY from you so its easier to manager. Not all the weight is with you.

You would dump the thing where ever once in spitting range. Hauling that at rifle around WOULD get you killed in 5 seconds flat. Still I am serious....enable hip fire aN at rifle... fly the other way! Oh the hilarity!

But it would be unbalanced.
If it is all in one spot you can hold it all. With it being so long you have all this weight seven feet away from you that you can't hold up because your arms aren't that long of course :T
So that end touches the ground.

Except this cannon was carried with the top handle in real life, unlike in game. So realistically, you couldn't fire it, as your finger shouldn't be on the trigger. I don't think we need less realism.

Maybe in Action mode, but not Realism and definitely not Classic.

Soldiers are funny critters. Sometimes they do VARY stupid things. In games most the best stupid things you simply can not do. The worst like dropping a hand grenade on your buddy's you can. So I am all for hip firing at AT rifle. Because that is pretty stupid and real world; something a soldier MIGHT do. Just the AT rifle HAS to get launched the OTHER way.

yea man. The rifle will do some crazy stuff when it fires... in addition to get rifle going somewhere random, YOU yourself will be facing somewhere random and with suppression effect. So yes, crazy stuff is going to go on when you hipfire this monster.

Ok, to solve this once for all, get your camcorder, find a 2.1m long stick/branch (cut it down if need be) strap and tie 20kg of weights across the branch, add something to take place of the pistol grip and handle, then film your self holding it and running round outside and inside you house for 15m, then try and go into a room and bring up that stick in 1 sec or under, if you can't then you can't in real life.

gonna take more than that to convince him. it's already been pointed out how ludicrous the idea is. ;)

Chuy, I say we should add it IF you can hipfire it WITHOUT it going all over the place and you need to show video proof. :p

Is 46lb really that much for non-accurate hipfiring?
why should the devs spend all sorts of time to include a non-accurate weapon, just to make one or two guys happy?
right now it seems no one is really with you on the idea. if you prove to TWI that LOTS of people want it, then you may end up getting it. till you can show them that everyone wants it, talking about it is just a waste of time. go back to asking for the bolt version of at gun. at least that had support.

Probably everyone who disagrees never plays AT class. Im telling you, its ok to be dead meat right when you see an enemy unexpectedly? Its absurd that MGers have a fighting chance while Tripwire is looking at us AT guys saying "lol you have no hope of surviving". Im towards leaning more of a lazy/not important issue to TWI than actually possible. So I wasnt wrong, it is possible to hipfire the PTRS, but the devs are the bottleneck here, not my absurd ideas.

you can argue all you want. it just won't help you at all. if you don't convince TWI that we want it, it will never happen. you're directing your efforts in the wrong place. make the poll. it's the only thing that will convince TWI to make it happen for you. that's all there is to it.

if you just want to discuss it and really have no plans of ever seeing it happen in the game, then by all means just keep talking about it instead.

p.s. i'll even cast the first yes vote for you.

No, its not possible. Their not being lazy, their being realistic. I don't think you should be able to hipfire AT rifles and I do play AT class when needed. Just use your pistol, that's what its their for. Works just fine for me.

Yeah that's kindof the point of the AT guy. He doesn't have the close-range man-to-man capability that other classes do. He has his handgun which works well enough. And it should only work well enough; if the AT guy is actually good at CQC then something is wrong.
