Why are most servers running Barracks exclusively?

Nothing against the map, I think it's fine, I just wanna play Grain Elevator and Red October more.

Well its the first map of the cycle now. Also a lot of people like maps that have a very "own" gameplay like in RO1 danzig or arad when you think about tank maps. Some people like it some dont and some of them own servers.

People will always pick the maps that are the most CQB. It's just the way it's always been for every game.

I think you are refering to empty servers, the map won't change by itself... it needs players in it to start the match, so it stays on Barrack map.

I was wondering about this, too. It's difficult to find a good Territories game on Grain Elevator, which is my favorite map so far.

A few answers:

Currently, the default server startup command starts ff-barracks automatically. Most of us are too lazy to change that You can always enter an ff-barracks server and get some of your friends to vote for other maps (through the main menu - map vote tool)

Apartments and FallenFighters have been removed from the current dedicated server rotation by Tripwire so that we get a chance to test the other maps.

Actually this may be because they changed the vote system, Barracks will always be the first visible voteoption and too get the others you need too scroll, it may not be obvious enough for people.

They removed them in order to concentrate on beta testing the new maps. The full release will have all the maps.

They changed the vote system to where only 1 option shows at a time (wtf?) and you have to scroll down to vote for the other maps.

Problem is, nobody knows this. And when you try to scroll down, the instant someone votes, you get pushed back to the top of the list (barracks). Add in the 2.3 second vote time and you'll never play another map again.

Yea... I really hope they are changing the votesystem :/ Just like in RO1 or Killing Floor. That you always have to play a different map and can't play a map twice in a row

barracks gives me 10-20 less fps than the other 2 maps. The official TWI servers are the only ones that track stats and they're ALL running 24/7 te-barracks. they really need to change the rotation because it just gets boring and laggy as hell.

I'm hoping its not intended to work like that, cause personally I had no idea you had to scroll. 2.3 seconds isn't really enough time to vote, let alone figure something like this out.

Not true have been playing on other servers and they did track stats too
