Judge me on that as you like, I love my life and I'm not sorry to be that selfish to have the will to keep it. If you want to die as a martyr do it, I won't stop you.

Selfishness on the battlefield won't make you very popular in your unit. It might save your life once or twice, but when you run out of food and water and are freezing to death and your comrade decides that he's gonna be selfish and eat all his remaining bread himself, you are gonna regret your selfishness. You'll get what you gave. Of corse, thats just my opinion.

If few females were to be included I don't mind, women are equal to men these days. Actually they want to be treated as men (at least here) so if you shoot men you must shoot women too, otherwise you are a sexist bastard who treats women in a lesser way as men.
Why do I have a feeling that feminists would litteraly RAPE Tripwire if they included women? Tough I agree, there should be some women.

Children I personally wouldn't want in
Yeah. No need for kids getting shot in the face in here.

Glorification of war, it's a chewing gum word. You could say that CoD: Black Ops is glorifying but no one cared, it was released all other the world. Why? US heroes are saving the world from evil Nazis, Bolsheviks and Vietnamese Untermensch. US may do anything no matter how brutal.
COD games since MW1 had that America FU*K YEAH & fu*k commies/nazis feeling. Havent played any of them since WAW but by vids I've seen, its disgusting.

In most countries the flag of Nazi Germany is banned. Here the Soviet flag was banned recently. But of corse you can fly the american flag anywhere you want, tough they have a fair share of warcrimes commited by them. But that doesn't matter since they were commited against nazies, godless commies or the terrorist hajis...
Sadly, history is written by the victor.

This thread is nothing but a cheap shot at the (admittedly weird) decision to include unrealistic weapons in the game. Nothing constructive to be seen here, and the point that if "unrealistic weapon A is in the game then why not include unrealistic weapon B as well?" has been made so many times it is beginning to get quite old (especially since TWI has already announced a RO1 mode).

I do agree on that. But don't you think there's a difference between sharing bread with your comrades and killing a person that wants to kill you? Some people just like our Polish friend obviously believe it disgusting that a human wants to keep alive by all means. I believe it natural that you try to keep yourself alive. Sharing bread with your comrades is natural too to some extent, because if you only got hardly enough left for yourself and you know you're gonna die if you only give a crumb.

If I had to I had the same situation with my wife and my children, I'd give everything to them.

These are harsh and dire situations and I guess no game nor film will ever portrait this. And hell I hope I never have to see and experience this.

Have to agree with the Emperor... the first thing that will come to mind when someone, anyone points a lethal weapon at you is "SHOOT!" no matter how much of a moralist you are.

I wouldn't really want children in RO, but I guess it would be acceptable if it were realistic for them to be on one of the teams, say if there were historical evidence of underaged soldiers in the specific units depicted in the game scenarios. Same for women. I'd like to see one or two here and there on the Soviet team, but it would be hard to justify doing all the work to add them if they're a rare sight.

I doubt Tripwire would get in trouble, after all what Avtomat said was true: Call of Duty does it better. You see your teammates engage in routine torture, you get to spray random civilians in a crowded airport, and the depiction of Russians (even the friendly NPCs) in the newer games is borderline offensive (and I'm not even Russian).

This thread was obviously made to troll people who actually want realism/historical accuracy.
Nonetheless, this is a game... as much as I want it to be as close to life as possible, it just won't happen. Seeing a bunch of men dieing on screen is nothing to what it was really like.
You can't make people truly fear death, become heroically patriotic, be filled with overwhelming hate, etc. Those are things they feel by themselves.
Besides, most people just don't see the importance of life, or of the history behind the game.
Some people are too apathetic or are ignorant to what these soldiers went through.

Probably someone else has said this...I was wondering about having civilians popping out of hiding holes and running for cover or as you try to clear a building, you find that civilians are hiding in a room or something...would sharpen a person's trigger impulse...negative points like shooting a friendly.

I wouln't call shooting your enemy, no matter what gender or age "selfishness" I call it basic instinct of life preservation.
You know that if you don't pull the trigger, he's probably going to do it.

If I had to I had the same situation with my wife and my children, I'd give everything to them.
Completely natural. Even in war, bonds between soldiers can grow so strong, they view their unit as one big family.

These are harsh and dire situations and I guess no game nor film will ever portrait this. And hell I hope I never have to see and experience this.
Indeed.

lol guys, look at what propaganda did and still do... look at your posts, read them. Is it your point of view, your brain that made sums and gave you a result, or are those just prefab answers, moral values that you "need" to just get along with the current world?

Think about it ;)

I'd like to quote a bit here and there and tell my two cents, but got a dinner with friends this eve, so... maybe later :)

I don't care who is pointing a gun at me, could be a ten year old boy wearing RKKA uniform, I'd still shoot him. He's brainwashed and will always try to kill the German animal or as one bolshevik poster once said: "Officers and men in green greatcoats are no humans! I really don't divide into male, female and adult or child if someone is threatening my life. If I get the chance I will always kill them.

Shooting civilians and POWs. Yes, would do. Honestly what is the use of you saying "no, won't do that?" They pull you out of the rank of the executionsquad and put you in the ranks of the to-be-executed. I'd pull the trigger, cause not doing so ends my life and expands his life my few minutes.

This is COMPLETELY beside the point and we must get back on the original topic.

This is a game. A game that is sold in many countries with a grossly divers mix of people, genders, and culture. There are many people from many of these countries that carry a lot of sensitivity to this WWII subject. We need to be respectful and tactful of how we create these games and avoid glorifying these points. I believe this notion would be considered highly offensive to many and ultimately not add a single thing to the game. A game that, in my opinion, already needs its current systems fixed and worked on... not new obscure ones added to it.

If you want this experience in a game then go play the No Russian mission from MW2.
