I'm having trouble distinguishing who my squad members are. If I hit the "t" key seems I get icons for important objectives. But, if I spawn in a new game how can I tell who my squad leader and squad mates are?

Squad members names are in Green and are green dots on your maps. If your SL is alive, you'll see an icon and distance to them when you use the T key.

As for telling who is in what squad when you're NOT part of their squad....GL with that.

Thanks that was helpful. Just for clarifying, the platoon leader's name is an orange color right? The other members of the platoon won't be on the map? Also, I noticed that names don't always appear above their heads. What's up with that?

Can't believe I haven't figured this all out yet! LOL Just trying to be as efficient as possible.

One more newb question. The "z" key for spot targets. Do I hit that to have red icons show up on the map for the platoon tosee?

Wasn't there some kind of squad screen that you could access to see who is in what squad and where you cloud also chose a role in the squad.

It should be ; to open squad screen but it doesn't do anything but if I remember I think it was working a few patch back. Other wise go to role selection and press Squad from there you can select stuff but it's broken if you scroll down to much it will mess up

That's your team commander. Your squad leader's name is listed in white.

The other members of the platoon won't be on the map?

Non-squad members are blue.

It's a server side setting. By default names show up near and far. It can be toggled to only show near or never show at all, as well. Something realism folks like because it makes FF really important to be careful of.

Yes. My experience is it doesn't work super well, particularly when you're looking at windows. Half the time it will just place the spotted mark on the ledge of the window.

Yes. Under Select Role, you can switch to the squad tab and see who is in what squad playing what role. It's not useful for checking in game though, especially because the squad menu still sucks and likes to freak out.

It can be confusing I try to pick my class thru the squad select menu at the start of the match. While I may not be able to remember what squad the rest of the guys are in.I can at least remember what squad I'm in so if the SL says squad one go right side I know what to do.

Nenjin, thanks for the info.

It's all starting to make sense. I didn't know about the server side stuff. Personally, I like the names always on, even though, I prefer realism over arcade. Squad cohesion is difficult enough. The game seems a little too fast at times.

I wish there were some more time to form cohesive squads in the beginning and able to chat with the team (platoon.) What if you wanted to form a 3 man LMG team? i.e. (1 SL, 1 rifleman, 1 LMG). Or, a squad of just automatics?

I've only played on public servers so far so, maybe private ones might be more suitable to what I'm talking about.

At the bottom of the "Choose Your Role" screen is the "Join A Squad" tab, which lists all the squad positions and who's filling them. You can select a position there to get into a specific slot of a certain squad.
