Whitelisting Mods and Mutators

Subscribing to the workshop item in linux was causing the issue of my server being deranked. Temporary fix:

Unsubscribed the server from the workshop item.
Moved KFMutator.u to the servers BrewedPC folder.
Deleted the cache folder for the mutator.
Launched server and presto, works.

Mutator Whitelist Request - Auto Open Website Mutator
This Mutator can only open a website when any clients join the server.
Server's Owner must set WebURL in ini file after first server running.

Sounds like a bad thing to whitelist from a user perspective but mainly a security perspective.

I think it will not be whitelisted because it can be abused to open malicious website.

I'm maybe wrong but from my point of view it might be considered potentially dangerous, but I don't really know if what I said is possible because I guess it opens the website inside of Steam overlay so this might reduce risks maybe xD or not. I know other games have this kind of plugin to auto open a page where you have ads to help the server earn ads revenue so it might be safe within steam web browser.

I've had several users ask me to submit it for whitelisting. I don't know how to do that, so I'm posting here.

If it were accepted, would whitelisting require reexamination for every release?

I've also heard, informally, that I might have to try to modify CD so that it only makes the game "harder", not "easier", (for some definition of those words) if it were to be whitelisted. I've thought about that quite a bit, and I'm convinced it is futile. Even if I did it, it would merely play into the hands of guys running perk trainer maps. And the overarching theme of my mod is giving control to players... I really don't want to take away the "bottom" end of difficulty settings provided by CD just to get it whitelisted, artifically constraining player choice.

I think most of my players who want whitelisting really just want it for personal best updates. If you are uneasy about whitelisting CD due to difficulty concerns and XP farming (even though I think that's not valid as long as perk trainer maps exist), I suspect almost everyone would still be happy with a version of CD that disables XP gain but still allows personal best updates.

I wish there were more whitelisted mods.. whitelisting CD would be nice, maybe even put some limitations to it do that players don't make the game too easy!
If that is done right it might attract more Hard and Normal players to play on harder difficulties and actually use the empty servers in these difficulties..

I've been looking into where we are at on adding new mods, but it seems like nobody currently working on the team is familiar with the tools and process involved here. I've raised that there are many who would love to see additions to the team.

Please: add something that regenerates armor or something.. it would great to have armor by your kills for example!

As Amione as suggested above, the Friednly Hud should be at the least considered to be added to the Whistlisted mods.

Why should this be whitelisted?



  1. FriendlyHUD provides an excellent utility tool for field medics as they have constant visibility of there teams health status, furthermore they have the information of their buffs being in effect which is useful in many ways. The only current way is the abnormally large UI above the players themselves or holding down tab which is rather inconvenient.
  2. The Friendly is completely customization, allowing users to have free reign on utility.
  3. This mod does not change the game in anyway possible! Its completely friendly in that regard. It doesn't change the spawning of zeds, health, damage. The only changes that are made the mini hud as stated above.
  4. Don't take just my word for it, the discussions on the steamworkshop can backup all my claims:)


I hope this was somewhat helpful to you and the community in getting this mod whitelisted!



I understand that things are rather tricky at Tripwire in getting these mods approved but another mod has already been whitelisted in the past.



If you could let me and the community know that you are at least looking into the mod getting whitelisted, i think it would make a rather large amount of people happy :)
