Maybe so, but the trees look pretty good. I am sure it could be done. Might run a bit slower though.

Likewise, why would anyone in the world care about Finland? No one else in the world would care about a conflict with them (using your own logic).

The same can be said about the Winter War. The setting and maps will hardly vary.

Speaking of the same weapons, the Winter War would use the same weapons. Hell, half would be recycled over from stock HoS.

The same can be said about objectives. The same old European style towns, capturing yet another artillery position, ect.

And to put some facts down, there are more Americans that play games than European countries. Especially small ones like Finland. More players with interest = more people playing the mod.

I have also never played a WWII FPS that didn't portray the Japanese as mindless animals either. I don't think one exists. It would be great if a mod/game came out with RO's neutral stance.

Really, the anti-American crap gets old fast. Surely you could have thought of a more clever way to bash us.

Note: I don't hate the Finns, just using the Winter War as an example. I'd play a Winter War mod/game, but it wouldn't be my first choice. ;)

What that dude know about Winter War... :D :D :D
Well nothing... Finland didnt belong to axis in Winter War. That was later
on Continuation War, so Winter War weapons are mainly Finnish or from
France like flamethrowers. And What towns you find in Karelian front...
hmmm...well...hmm...Viipuri (Vyborg)...the rest is small villages, endless roads in deep forest and lakes.

And if you take a look to RoLadder
You can see that France won, Finland was second and Germany 3rd
in Original RO nation cup. No north american countries in medals, because Canada didnt even had a team and Finland beated USA in quarterfinals 6:2

So RO doesnt have a huge american palyer base. Its more like europeans game. :D

This seems to be the case in RO and also a few of the older 'realistic' shooters, vietcong for example.
There are indeed many US based fps players - but in general do they tend to work there way thou shooters - realism based or not - abandoning older games as new ones are released?
I've had american friends suggest this is the case.

When numbers drop in games it's interesting to see the nationalities that seem to stick around.
As games get out of date, my experience (mostly with 'realistic' fps) is that it's generally europeans that seem to hang around - phaps we just have crappier PC's (preemting the obvious response there)

Pacific or Western front.WF for its diversity in terrain, weapons and uniforms.Pacific for its unique combat and terrain and that it was very much an Australian involvement.
We also have to have a mod involving the Americans for it to be popular! Cant have it too obscure;)

Personally, I'd love to see some mods based off of Canada during WWII.

I'd love to see a Battle of Britain Mod, but that would require planes which is most likely out of the question, haha.

Meditteranean! This has never been done before for a WW2 mod.

I've read a fair amount about WW2 and know that the events which took place in Greece are not mentioned enough whatsoever. A Greece vs. Italy mod would be great. Greece had the first win of WW2 (beating Italy), lasted for over 260 days (the most days for any country which became Axis controlled), and was the only country in WW2 to fight 4 countries at the same time (Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, and Albania).

People are arguing that there hasn't been enough Pacific theatre games, well there haven't been ANY Meditteranean games. This would be a unique mod, and would be refreshing to see some Mediterranean environments in a game.

The Mare Nostrum (MN) Mod for RO currently covers the Mediteranean, North Africa, Crete, and Italy! :p

Hmm fair enough about Mare Nostrum, I never played it so I wouldn't know ;). Still though, perhaps a greater focus on that Balkan region would be nice. Crete was definitely significant because it's what caused Greece to become controlled by Axis, but there is also the Albanian front which caused the defeat against Italy.

.... Likewise, why would anyone in the world care about Finland? No one else in the world would care about a conflict with them (using your own logic).

Speak for yourself, not for me and others you know nothing about, as you got my logic wrong.

I wouldn't mind a couple of maps of Finland..... I wouldn't mind a map or two of the pacific front either.... but an entire mod of the pacific front or all Finland?

Seems a bit redundant to me.

Which is why my choice was Western Europe overall, with Winter War second.

Though to admit, I got my wires crossed and got the Winter War mixed up with the German Blitzkrieg somehow, which I think would have been a good option to choose from.

So for me:

#1 - Western Europe (World War II)
#2 - German Blitzkrieg (Pre-World War, leading up)

The same can be said about the Winter War. The setting and maps will hardly vary.

Agreed..... I stand corrected on my mixup of the Winter War..... the Winter War would be just as redundant as the Pacific front.

Speaking of the same weapons, the Winter War would use the same weapons. Hell, half would be recycled over from stock HoS.

The same can be said about objectives. The same old European style towns, capturing yet another artillery position, ect.

And what would you suggest would be any different in the Pacific front?

And to put some facts down, there are more Americans that play games than European countries. Especially small ones like Finland. More players with interest = more people playing the mod.

Once again, look at why.

Perhaps because most of the games are geared towards Americans and their own history.... go figure.

How do you expect to get into the European/Canadian/Rest of the World market by just sticking to more US-based games that the rest of the world doesn't relate to?

And if you want to state facts, back them up with sources, otherwise it's just your opinion.

I have also never played a WWII FPS that didn't portray the Japanese as mindless animals either. I don't think one exists. It would be great if a mod/game came out with RO's neutral stance.

Agreed... but considering games such as Call of Duty's SP mode has them computer controlled and pre-animated actions of running/screaming at you as they come to shank you with their bayonet, and is once again geared for a US based audience, it doesn't suprise me that their enemies would act like mindless killing machines.

Heck they still do it today with their propaganda against the Taliban or Al'Q..... sure some of it may be true, but it's propaganda none the less. That's not a stab, as any country at war spews propaganda to some degree or another.... it's just the way things are.

Really, the anti-American crap gets old fast. Surely you could have thought of a more clever way to bash us.

Grow a thicker skin and get over it.... I wasn't bashing you guys, I was stating my opinion on how sick I am of over-glorified US based War Games, simply because I don't relate to them or their history..... because it is not "MY" history.

Don't like it? Too bad.

If you want me to bash the US, it won't take much, but I don't need to stoop to such a level.

Just because people don't kiss your country's arse all the time, doesn't mean they're trying to bash you.

Once again, get over it.

Note: I don't hate the Finns, just using the Winter War as an example. I'd play a Winter War mod/game, but it wouldn't be my first choice. ;)

Since I stand corrected on the Winter War, my views on it are non-issue and I agree with your views of that paticular war as an option, which is shouldn't be.

My basis of decision on what mod should be made, is moreso towards wanting to have more variety of countries, classes, weapons and vehicles. It's got nothing to do with being against the US, except perhaps that I'm just tired of using the same weapons I've been using since Medal of Honor came out on the PS1.

When they're in just about every WWII FPS game out there, it kinda makes all those games seem the same.

I'd feel the same way if it was all Canadian or all British or all Chinese..... I'd like to have some variety in the game and see how other country's weapons and such operate and feel, rather then be continually be stuck with the same weapons I already know how to use in game from several other games past.

It's nothing personal against the US.

..... And if you take a look to RoLadder

Ah, I remember that.... I tried to get a team for Canada, but alas, while I imagine there were plenty more Canadian players out there, there was only like 3-4 of us in the forums that I could communicate with easily, and thus, not enough players to get things going.

Poop.

So RO doesnt have a huge american palyer base. Its more like europeans game. :D

Don't forget that the marketing here in the Americas is geared more towards the already well known games like CoD, BF, AA, Medal of Honor, etc.

I like RO, simply because it's different from the same run of the mill games played around here.

If there was a Western Europe Mod made with US, Canadian, British, French, and most every other Euro country of the time.... I bet you the market for the game would greatly expand, including the Americas..... even if it's just a map or two for each country/location for starters and have additional maps come along like what already happens today in Ost. Those who are interested in a paticular country or location in Western Europe would have the classes, weapons/vehicles and models already available to use and the mod could shape itself to whatever majority fan base there is out there.

The door would be open to everyone, it just depends on who steps through..... so to speak.

And if I'm wrong, then I guess I'll owe you a can of coke Smithers.

Personally, I'd love to see some mods based off of Canada during WWII.

I'd love to see a Battle of Britain Mod, but that would require planes which is most likely out of the question, haha.

Agreed... we had some of the worst, bloodiest battles of the Western Front, and won, both in WWI and II.... which rarely ever get mentioned and seem to get overshadowed by other countries..... I mean, the Germans didn't call us Canadians and Australians "Shock Troopers" for nothing. We were always the ones to be sent in to do the dirty work that nobody else could accomplish, or willing to try and accomplish due to the risks.

I think some of those missions being duplicated in a FPS like RO's style could prove very intense.

I would also be very interested in Canadians or Australians.

I can't name a game or mod in which you can play them.

I would say Western Front but I'm almost certain Darkest Hour is going to move to HoS, and I've long wanted to see a good Pacific mod for RO. It wouldn't be much good for tank maps, but it would provide some excellent infantry action. I don't think we have to worry too much about jungle maps, as there are already plenty of maps for RO and DH that are heavily wooded, with plenty of undergrowth. Maybe have some China vs Japan maps, or even Aussie vs Japan maps.
