I voted Western Europe, so long as it's not 98% all gun-ho American missions like every other WWII game out there..... other countries fought too yas know
A decent balance between maps/missions for each allied nation etc. would be nice.... say 4-5 US based missions, 4-5 British, 4-5 French Resistance (Maquis), 4-5 Canadian missions and a couple of other allied nations if there's time, against Germany, Italy and other sub-branch forces of occupied europe.
Or maybe 2-3 different maps for each, rather then 4-5.
I mean Western Europe has been done to complete death over the last few years with games like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Brothers in Arms, Day of Defeat, etc..... but most of them are mostly revolving around the US..... and while not trying to take away from US acomplishments during WWII, many countries were fighting brutal battles long before they entered the war and not everybody in the world who plays these games are from the US.
Just a bit more variety and relation to others around the world with their own country's historic battles would be nice.
And while Darkest Hour isn't horrible.... it hasn't really peaked my interest much and I find some of the weapons horrible to use.
why does everyone want western europe and winter???? comparitively there are sooooooooo fewer pacific games and in general not a lot at all but almsot ALL ww2 games are in western.
Considering the Pacific was mostly to do with Japan and the US, why would anybody else around the world not of the US or Japan have any relation to that front?
It was mostly navel and dog fighting for the most part.... and the battles on the various islands....... well, looking at it game-wise, each map would basically be the same look, feel and approach. Different objectives for the most part, but it'd all take place on a different shaped island, with similar jungles, the same enemies, the same weapons, Japan vs. US overall..... the variety would be minimal compared to Western Europe battles or Winter War.
I played and beat Call of Duty: World at War, and while most of it took place in the Pacific, the graphics were pretty and the story line was somewhat decent..... every level, every mission was basically the exact same thing over and over again, with a few trivial differences in attacks or objectives.
I'd be bored in three days.
