It's interesting that not a single player has said Fleshpound yet.
That's because the Fleshpound isn't annoying, he's flat-out dangerous. Either your squad kills him right away, or he wipes the game.

Meanwhile you have things like Crawlers that like to nibble at your shins while you try to kite and heal. If you manage to kill them off, now you have a Husk shooting at you from a distance. And clots are worthless... until one of them grabs you, then you kill him and one behind him grabs you, so you kill him too and now the specimens you were kiting have swarmed all over you.

In short: Annoying is when a normally harmless specimen is the reason you just died. Thus, the FP and Skrake aren't capable of being annoying, because their threat is well-know. You full-on expect them to be the game ender, thus it isn't as annoying when one of them is the reason you die.

Am I the only one?
Stalker. Is there anything more annoying than: "Aha there's two crawlers and a gorefast" *pull out HC* *boom* *boom* and before confirming that you killed them "easy work" But what is this? non of the shots hit their targets. you start to move backwards and kills off the three stalkers. but at that time the crawlers are way to close one of the crawlers gets a bite of you, and if you are unlucky the gorefast has also catched up.

stalker block works for every zed. The worst one ever: you are zerk and theres a small group of zeds with a siren in the middle. you think "what the heck, lets do this in worst case I'll lose some health. you rush for the sirens head with your katana ready to swing. and since you know that the katana wont hit instantly you swing a moment earlier than you arrive so that you will take minimum damage. but the swing misses since there's a stalker between you and your queen.

Anyway, avoiding huskshots isn't that hard. and it works. since they shoot for your feet you just need to jump when the husk's aiming, not when he has already fired his projectile. if you jump when he aims he will likely shoot for your belly instead and since these ghost projectiles passes straight through you it will land like far behind you depending on how far away the husk is. It's really simple, you just need to get the timing.

Also gorefasts are annoying with their broken animation-thingy.

I'm pretty sure anyone who's fired an explosive projectile outside of the patty round would confirm you're not the only one...

(also LOL @ the mental image of the various zeds rallying around their queen... for some reason I get this big Alice in Wonderland vibe from it)

Meanwhile, during the past week I seem to have lost the ability to locate the head on a crawler specimen. This is not good.

Gorefast. The other specimens are not much of a problem.. but when you are in CQB and one comes running around the corner, they tend to take a chunk out of your health.

Siren, by far. She makes it nearly impossible to be an effective zerker on suicidal unless you rock a crossbow with perfect accuracy.

Husk is a distant second, because he ruins your movement plans when you are trying to stay close to the horde as a zerker, and the flame screen effect is INCREDIBLY annoying.

Crawler is small time, even as berserker they never give me serious problems.

My best guesses are the bloat, fleshpound and gorefast.

Gorefast, definitely.

They're so evil!

They run so fast, shooting their heads off only stops them for a minute, and they stab you with so much power! Also, their body absorbs 9mm and bullpup shots like a sponge.

to me the most annoying is the bloat. on suicidal his vomit is tremendously powerful. sometimes his head refuses to pop - now im a good shot with the 9mm, but sometimes the bloats head is made out of steel, wont pop for nothing.

I love the gorefasts for that... they're still a "little" mook, but not hard to hit and are a genuine "sweet merciful duck!" threat than a "oh bother another 5 hitpoints" threat.

They're like the imps cacodemons, or stormtroopers, or Cardinal Richelieu's guards YouTube - Three Musketeers 1948 - One of the best swordfights on screen of KF.

Awesome video, Vaecrius! It's always fun watching those kinds of sword fights. Never dealing a killing blow unless your opponent is on his feet, with his weapon, and directly engaged with you.

But anyway, yes. Decapped Gorefasts are annoying indeed. Back when I was newer to this game, I thought that the way they stumbled around after being decapped was just a pre-death animation. Then I got close to a Gorefast that I thought was harmless... >.>

I'll take "Annoying" to mean that there is no perfect counter to the danger the specimen poses.

This explains why no one has mentioned FP's or scrakes. FP: 1 SS arrow to the face. Missed? line up another when he throws a motionless fit. Worst case scenario, just avoid him. Scrake: Arrow/zerker stun. He also takes 20 minutes to reach everyone. Avoid if you like.

This additionally explains why siren is such a contender for most annoying specimen. They have enough health to warrant dedicating an arrow, but their HS hitbox is so small that you often risk taking two shots and wasting time. They fall short of the gold medal in "FUUUUU" because they're so darn slow. You can additionally heal all of the damage they do to you (It doesn't hurt your armor), so I never have much trouble with them.

While crawlers are also a contender because of their small size and fast speed, a SS with a deagle can put them down in droves, support rips through them, and zerkers can just back up a bit and swing away (If they make it that far).

No, there can be only one most annoying specimen, and it is undoubtedly the husk, because there is no perfect solution to this problem. When they establish a line of sight, often from a loooong ways away, they almost immediately fire. They can damage you from anywhere, they can damage multiple people at once, and the coup de grace: They blind you worse than a trigger happy firebug. This means, given anything else on your screen, you have to prioritize them first. Because of their long range and quick attacks, you often need an xbow on the job. Because of their propensity to spawn in two's, they'll still often crash the party.

Note how EBR sharpshooters make short work of all three annoyances. I didn't touch much on this because a SS with an EBR is a SS without an xbow. Yuck.

Runner up goes to a 2-specimen combo: Stalker in front, crawler in back. People freak out when they see a crawler and shoot at it, thereby kneecapping the stalker. Stalker meat shields the crawler, and neither gets headshotted. Deagle, or any other piercing round solves this easily though.

Not everyone goes by the same definition of annoying.
I find it annoying when Fleshpounds manage to gang up and appear out of nowhere all at once. I find it very annoying. The only thing that can help with this is sheer good luck. Or a very good team. Sharpshooter can't do dick in the close confinements of some levels, BioticsLab for instance. Fleshpound gangrape in there is not fun. It's very annoying.

To the person who guessed fleshpound, ding ding ding, you are correct. A raging headless Fleshpound (a number of patches ago when you could decap an fp with a knife) they would have this homing missile effect, and chase you where ever you went till it either A) bled out, or B) smacked you one good time to kill u or put you at 10hp left.... with armor.
