Client side option to disable player skins. Simple. If people find skins objectionable, then one tick box and they are gone.

I think they should make big spectrum of skins. Like whats the problem if someone want to be a robot or somesing? I will not even care if they add some character that appear to be homosexual - is ok if someone likes it and would buy it. All i realy want - a yellow hazmat, but not big and bulky like Dr. Gary Glover.

No. No robots, please. No chickens. No steam punk.

I agree with Dub. While the Steampunk / silly skins were fun for a time, I think there was way more actual variety and memorable designs done with the normal $2 character packs.

I mean, think about it. The most played characters are Scully and Foster; and while some might argue this is because they're part of the cheaper character packs, I think it's because they're just good character designs overall. If you have to limit your character design by saying "this has to be a silly skin" or "this one has to be steampunk" then it severely limits just what you can bring to the table in terms of raw character design.

So, I think it would be great to have a variety of REALISTIC but still varied character skins. With the war being taken to Paris (and presumably the rest of the globe) I'd love to see a bigger variety in soldiers from around the world, who all have British accents for some reason.

Lies, everyone plays Masterson, Corporal Lewis, Pvt. Schnieder, Sgt. Powers, Chickenator, and or the Pyros.

DJs are popular, its kinda obvious? Mr Foster's design is very simplistic, just a business man with a gas mask, yet so simple that people can dress up just like him with ease.

Also, lets not bring realism in a game about some British science group run by a porn star who creates clones and kills everyone because the government didnt like his ideas. If these monster clones can exist, Robots can run around as freely as they want. Steampunk is something the devs obviously enjoy, who are we to tell them not to have them in there game?

So long as I get to use Agent Wilkes in all his high definition, high res texture glory I will be happy.

I like the realistic characters, but I'm also using the chicken skin. I don't know what that makes me.

Well, a chicken costume can be realistic, right? I think it's the most awesome skin for any game ever.

If there's no Foundry Worker at least some point in KF2's life, I will scream

Lmao, what a hypocrite. "Servers shouldn't get to decide which skins you can or can't use... I SHOULD!"

Not hypocritical in the slightest. I don't want chickens running around with shotguns and I don't want server owners screwing over peoples customization.

Well that's the thing, many people DO want to run around as chickens or mall santas or the like, and Tripwire wants those kind of character models or they wouldn't have put them in in the first place..

You don't want those things. And the "dumb suggestion" I proposed would let you get your way, if you or someone of the same opinion as you was hosting a server, while all the people who DO want to use their chicken and robot DLCs can simply go to servers that don't have them disabled. Everyone wins. You win, the chicken-suiters win. Everyone.

The only alternative is you straight-up HAVE to see chickens running around with shotguns. All the time. Because ever since they were added to KF1, I don't think I've ever seen a match without at at least ONE "novelty" character model present; the novelties were very popular.

Still think it's a "dumb suggestion", Dub?

P.S. My favorite KF1 characters were the halfway-mutated guy (I think it was "security officer thorne aka carnivore" or something like that?) and the bomb-squad guy. But I have been known to firebug as a chickensuit (Whose fried NOW!? AHAHAHAA) or Demo as Baddest Santa (And a present for YOU *boom* and one for YOU *booooom* ) .... Good times.

I like the average characters. All of the character packs that came out before charging almost five dollars a piece per skin. The achievement skins stood out and that was okay I guess but toning it down for this game would make everyone happy.

Here is what I like the most : the weirdest of all normal people. Pretty much just kind of exaggerated features and such. Again not over the top, but interesting enough to not have dull characters. Kerry ( the crazy guy in the prison outfit with all the tattoos ) is one of my favorite characters.

Also I see a lot of hate for steampunk in here but it's pretty obvious that Tripwire likes steampunk. Honestly steampunk Mr. Foster didn't bother me as much but when the female version came out it was just so over the top and bright and different some people reacted negatively. It just doesn't fit in as much. I don't mind a toned down version honestly as long as you can put that character with the others and not have one look like from another planet.

Crashfu, I think you're a little mixed up on what people had in mind.
Individual players disabling skins would not necessarily stop other people on the server from choosing the skin they want; it could simply display them as something else. That would be the real win-win. Everyone plays whatever skin they want, and only the skins that they want displayed get displayed, without the hassle of getting to know the exact tastes of every server admin on the browser. A little bonus, people running the game on toasters could load just one player model, if they wanted.

who are we to tell them not to have them in there game?
We are users of their forum that they set up for critiques, opinions, and other discussions about their game, and we are customers that could take our business elsewhere. We obviously can't demand anything, but there's nothing wrong about trying to influence them; they want it.
If I could do it over again, I wouldn't have encouraged them by buying the steampunk DLCs, even at fifty cents or whatever I paid. Maybe buy an extra copy of my favorite DLC instead, to support TWI in general, and make steampunk dlc less popular in comparison.

Anyways, aside from that negativity, I do have a suggestion to bring to the table:
Make the original six military and police dudes from KF1 be a free bonus for people that own KF1. It would make a good tribute to the game's roots, and they probably wouldn't sell very well as paid DLC anyways.

"These skins shouldn't be in the game at all!" is a bit hard to misunderstand.

And what's the big difference between a server having specific skins disabled and a player disabling view of skins, anyways? One puts everyone in a unified visual setting and the other leads to some confusion over why Police-Officer-Generic-Model keeps talking like a robot or making christmas puns or somesuch. :p

But hey, if they did do player-model blocks on a client-side basis, I could just set every model except the one I'm using to display as chickensuits instead. Better friendly visibility that way, you know, eehehee. :D

Anyone who bothered to disable any skins would be accountable for remembering that they did, but maybe there could be something to indicate it, like making the switched skin's player name a slightly different color or something. Usually people get bored of making references to their skin within about an hour of buying it or a day of unlocking it anyways. And if the skin gets switched, I thought it would be pretty easy to assume that they would make the voice switch respectively.

I don't particularly care if there is a skin disable option or not, but if there is, it should definitely be client side, rather than server side, so you can make everyone chickens, toaster operators can make everyone the lowest detailed character, and so serious folk can turn off the silly skins. No need to let the hosts force their taste on your experience.
