I have actually loaded and fired a PPSH in Cambodia not more then two months ago, just like in the pic the forward looking "trigger" is a big fat fire selector between semi/auto. IRL its a fat little bit of folded metal which is laterally much broader across then the weapon's trigger. In the screenshot you will also see that this little lever is around half the vertical depth of the trigger guard aswell, which is also consistant with the fire selector of the real weapon 8)

yes, it was confirmed

the first unlock for PPSH is the Fire Selection
the second unlock is the Drum Magazine
the third unlock is Drum Magazine and Fire Selection
If this is the case then not only is the unlock system unrealistic, but it is laughable, sorry TWI but if you think it would unbalance the game to have "noobs" running around with drum mags then you should include the MG42, give the Germans the machine gun advantage and the Russians the SMG advantage, a la RO1 and a la REAL LIFE

ITS CALLED ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE

You gotta get all the mad out of your butt before you do anything.
Besides, I haven't seen any proof other than that guys post about it. So until a dev comes out and says "Oh yeah you unlock this then this then this" shut your face.

ITS CALLED ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE

Because you totally know how the game played out in early alpha/beta when they had the weapons play like IRL.

Because you absolutely know you are smarter than Than TWI and can make a game better.

The PPSH accuracy in RO1 was horrendously nerfed. The Recoil was insanely high.
They made the Recoil the same as IRL and guess what happened? It was over powered, they had to do something to nerf it because it destroyed the German team. Hence the drum barrels needing unlocking.

My guess is they did this so Noobs can't spray and pray and win. They will need to work to unlock the drum, and when they do unlock it the enemy will be more seasoned and have the experience to overcome the PPSH advantage.

Ehm... They have written that their way of finding balance is through symmetrical balance.

EDIT: Okay, that was untrue, wrote it first, checked the comment I was thinking of after. Ramm did however write that they balanced the game for the PPSH having the box mag from the start.

I meant he doesn't know what the game played like when the game had PPSHs with drums and real life accuracy, and that it was way overpowered. They since have changed it. Yes I know its symmetrical.

Just play on non-ranked, I don't see the big deal...

Even on ranked you unlock it soon enough anyway
This has been discussed a lot and TWI gave a bunch of reasons why they did it this way.

[not saying I disagree though]

yeah the PPSH fires some pretty small rounds actually and the recoil i found quite managable, very little muzzle climb, the thing just jumps around a bit from lack of dampening. I have a photo of me firing it around here somewhere and you can actually see little sparks of metal flying out the top of the climb arrestor, which of course reduces muzzle climb :)

So yeah Ossius i can see why they nerfed it 8D

Oh wow. Fire selector is an unlock now? That's ridiculous. Where's the historical accuracy TWI has been so proud of?

I actually find this too COD-ish. I mean... Seriously?

Also newbies, who are already at disadvatance (because they do not know the maps, etc), will be punished even more by having 1/2 of the clip size, only full auto, etc.
