In general I am choosing a perk to fit the team.

If there is no medic in a team, I`ll choose one and then go medic gun + xbow to help in killing bigger stuff. I try to keep everyone in a good standing :)

If there is a lack of firepower I am going SS or Support

If my team is balanced I play my own style :) So SS for the first 2-3 rounds to collect money. Then I switch to commando sell xbow, buy SCAR and collect money for the next 2-3 waves. Then I go demo, buy m32 and pipes. Demo with SCAR and m32 + pipes makes my day :D

Since i already have all my perks at lvl 6 i just play as Medic now, then i normally back up people that have some problems like flesh pounds raging on them so i block them, and if i see that my team is

I'm mostly going to stick with the team, holding their backs. Most often I use the commando to do so, just to see that ugly stalker sneaking up behind my team's back and putting a bullet through her head. Same with stalkers, especially if someone tries running off into the field again on Farm (happens all too often :/). I'm holding their backs, but if they repeatedly try to go on their own, I tend to let them die, no need to waste the life of the team here. On other occasions, I lend them a punch by cleaning mobs with the Grenade Launcher as Demo, softening up FPs (or taking them out), or holding strategic choke points with a wellplaced grenade. I usually don't run off by myself except I'm in desperate need of something and its the end of the wave anyway.
Sometimes I also circle to different positions to help out with my firepower. I know its not the most accurate way to damage dealing, yet you see dangers that others usually do not see, and in most cases, you can put an end to that possible breach situation.
I'm trying to get into the Sharpshooter perk, which is not level 6 but even lower than both my Commando and Demoperk.

Sharpshooter = LAR and dual hand cannons

Support = Shotgun and Hunting Shotgun

Medic = Bullpup and Shotgun

Commando = Bullpup and AK47

Berserker = Katana and AK47/Bullpup

Firebug = Anything apart from tier 3 weapons or flamethrower or crossbow, its the perk i try to keep at level 0.

Never play demo

Dont like tier 3 weapons, all of them are overpowered except AA12, but i just dont like that gun anyway.

Not much of a run-n-gun myself. It's fun in other games but not often effective in KF on higher difficulties.

I very much like teamwork. You know the kind where you're picking off trash while ignoring a scrake so close that you're choking on chainsaw smoke...then pop goes his head because the teammate (that you were covering!) did his job? That's fun to me.

I like saving people's asses too. If I play demo you'll notice two things: 1) when you think you're gonna die there will be a large cloud of smoke appear that totally obscures your vision and leaves you unable to shoot at anything. 2) Nothing will walk out of that smoke alive so it doesn't matter. If I'm gonna blind you, I'll be sure you're safe. I'll also heal you before myself.

..Oh and I suppose 3) If you're in the front lines chances are there will be an "emergency only" pipe placed under your feet while you aren't looking. If you get in trouble and backup to it, I'll replace it after it's gone.

I dig healing. I'll be the first one there after the FP is dead.

I dig playing with a familiar team. It's nice to throw down a spare SCAR for the late wave ammo and not have someone "steal" it.

I dig goofing off. 6x Katana is the best way to kill patty IMHO.

I dig putting a 5% weld on doors to lock you out. (it's a friends-only thing though...goofing, not griefing).

I dig the strategy. If you are willing to follow my orders then I guarantee I can lead you to a win. If not then I'm content playing with just the basics (stick together, help each other).

I like helping noobs and answering questions. Exception: If your perk is too low I'll ask you to leave...sorry nothing personal, just game mechanics and finances.

I dig playing like an utter idiot on a level far below my perk (sometimes). I've got a cool style of cash juggling that I can't pull off on hard/suicide.

I dig blocking strangers from backing away from zeds after they've done this to me for an entire game. Getting banned from the server because it was the admin, who purposely pisses off others but won't tolerate opposition, I don't dig that so much. (keep your goofing on private servers with friends that will appreciate it, please)

Anyways I usually roam about a bit, as to not overlap targets, but I check up on the team to be sure they're doing alright, or if I need help. I hate standing still in a camping spot, so I don't like teams that are very tightly grouped.

I especially like using the crossbow, making use of the headshot damage, penetration, bolt recovery, and combinations thereof. I also like demolitions, since that also has individual shots that are important and strategic. Using other stuff and simply tearing through zeds is cool too though.

Also just to add..

My play style changes over the course of a game.

I'm dead serious on wave 1 as I'm needing a good start to the game. The goal is a tier 4 weapon by wave 3 (at latest) and armor by 4.

I'll goof off and roam on the earlier waves.

On wave 7-10 I'm dug in and camped.

On wave 11 I'm back to goofy. I could care less about patty but I'll help *you* kill him.

If you are playing on anything other than suicidal, then run 'n gun is, in my humble opinion, the only way to play.

I would spend an entire game on the backside (think raining crawlers) of West London, by myself, as a berserker. All I needed was my katana and a xbow, and nary a death would visit me. The dance a berserker must invoke to stay alive amidst a steady stream of crawlers interspersed with charging gorefasts and plodding clots is fantastic. Throw in the occasional husk and now you'd better have your head on a swivel.

The obvious caveats are one, that I know I can survive solo and still come out with the most kills and two, that the current team can handle my absence. Sometimes they can't, and I proximate myself accordingly.

As I mentioned, this is rarely a successful tactic on suicidal, simply because most people can't handle the sheer chaos that will ensue when suddenly zombies aren't being funneled through one or two convenient choke points. That's not to say it can't be done, though I believe a large map is conducive to this playing style. Your back to a wall is about as close to a death guarantee as you can get in that situation.

Medic: My anti-Ritalin.

Firebug: My anti--oh hey something shiny and not on fire brb
(To be fair, I do at least make a token effort not to rage pounders unless I know for a fact that all the sharpshooters on the team are m14 noobs and no one is going to kill it by any means other than pure attrition.)

Sharpshooter: Rambo for first wave, buy armour and quasi-berserk the second to fourth, then buy the bow and hang back and casually pick off any ominous-looking crawlers and waiting for someone or something to let me know something worth the bow is coming. Then die horribly after four or five headshots in the patty fight because I have no concept of running away from something invisible and faster than me.

Support: Revel in the mass bloodshed and nearly get killed for want of ammo many, many times over the course of each wave. Weld random doors.

Commando: Make jokes about "going commando" and then picking something else. :V But seriously though I haven't really tried this perk yet. :|

Demo: Die horribly and make some extremely politically incorrect joke. See Commando.

Just tried the run-and-gun thing on Bedlam the other night. Compared to the typical game where you either spend the whole time on or trying to get to the balcony, or barricading in the pool room and promptly dying, actually moving through and clearing and exploring areas and seeing and fighting in all the parts of the map I'd never seen before was beautiful. It was obvious when I led the other players around that they weren't used to it and we got brutalized in many waves, but I have no regrets. (Except for when we ultimately got wiped out because I got distracted and led the team into a room where unbeknownst to me the zeds were not only coming in the doors but also dropping from a hole in the exact middle of the ceiling hindering not only our escape but our ability to regroup within the room itself. If anyone from that game reads this, I am truly sorry.)

There's no real playstyle to this game, keep your distance, aim for the head, fire, always works.
