Oh boy, Joint Ops was the worst game I have ever played, A great example of how not to make a video game, I'd go on about what I thought ****ed about it but I can sum it up on a few words. "The whole game"
Au contraire! Joint Ops may have its flaws but it's the best massive multiplayer war game out there! BF2 ****s so much in comparison it's not even funny. It is of course much more arcade than RO... it's actually more like the original Day Of Defeat (realism wise)... but not as painfully cartoony as BF2.
I just reinstalled Joint Ops a month or so ago, and play it off and on. When I first got it when it came out I couldn't play much since I had a crappy PC with 56k. I just dusted it off, registered, and realized how fun of a game it is.
The problem is the patches dumbed the game down, the servers got more and more lag (seems to increase with every "maintenance") and the good players left because of the nading and the ****ty support by nova...
I' played UltraBots and one of the Commanche games.. I got JO:TR with my 6600GT card.... I just couldn't get into it.. (read: didn't spend enough time trying..)..
I also enjoyed Tachyon: The Fringe.. can't remeber if I solved it or not though.. It was definately nice to play a semi-shooter space game though :]
(although I enjoyed watching my friends play the Wing Cmdr series, I was an XWing fan and never got into them..)
