Yeah but Matty, you liked the
old bloom (you must have been the only one), which made everything look blurry as hell, so I'm not surprised that you like the updated one as well.
I'm not one for turning things off to make it easier (like UT/Quake/generally loser type people do) but there's no way in hell I'm leaving bloom on. It seriously makes my eyes water. Some maps it's ok, but there's too many where it's not and I'm not going to turn it on and off as the maps change. It defeats the purpose.
I really do think it's funny though that a lot of people who like the bloom, blur and all, are probably running anisotropic filtering. For those who don't know what I'm getting at, they're using AF to sharpen up textures in the distance (at a performance cost) and then slapping bloom on it (another small performance cost) which blurs them up again.
