This is just one of many covernodes who just won't work. I followed the tutorial here. I did align the green arrow correctly, it's not too deep in the floor, yet I can not deploy a machinegun on it. :eek:

Back it up (needs to be some gap in front of slot to cover) and raise it up so the bottom of the red box is level or slightly above the floor.


Also, the "bars" in the broken window, if they have collisions ( press 'C' to see), they will prevent deployment. 'Failure to deploy' and 'cannot prone here' are the two headaches that will be with RS/RO2 forever.

I see, my question was not answered but I guess I could use the options to set the height instead of using the middle mouse button.

Is there is an "easy" way to modify the color of water under the FluidSurfaceActor without getting into Material Editing? I have tried all of the stock materials related to water in the SDK and none seem to fit what I want.

Are there any ways to set the packages to automatically load all the assets from published maps when you start the editor, and in that vein, if a map is published would it be bad form to use custom assets from it, or should I try to contact the authors somehow to ask their permission to use something?

It's always appreciated when someone is contacted if they made a special custom material or static mesh people want to use. Sure the map became public but whoever made it still spend many hours on that static mesh or material.

btw, what is the best and quickest way to make like a grass field? On maps all the grass is made into one big MAT it seems.

When playing in the editor (PIE) If i bring up a submenu like radio, or try to order bots to do something, I can't interact with it. If I move around my mouse while the menu are open, my player moves but the mouse cursor does not. Is this just part of PIE or is there a way around this?

PIE is best for checking simple stuff like scale and collisions. It is best to start a local dedicated server, either on the same machine or over a LAN, to test the Brewed version of the map.

For some reason the dialogue box keeps crashing every time I try to cook my map, after it says it is working on my map packages. Any tips?

I use a batch file to brew maps, so if there are any errors the dialog window stays open so I can read what the problem is, but never had any.

Recently the SDK has been changing the extension on the map's file name after saving/closing. In windows explorer goto the unpublished folder, make sure there are no numbers after the *.roe before brewing.

Yes, what TWrecks said. Make sure to change the extension setting in the bottom right corner to show "all files".

I also had this problem and had accidentially saved another custom map from workshop in the folder of the map I was trying to brew.. I deleted it and had no problems. CHeck to ensure you did not accidentally save any stock packages in the packages folder also.

Check your log file for possible clues

Any idea what would cause a static mesh to render with the generic blank checkered material after publishing map? I thought the static meshes were just stock meshes as i pulled them out of the content browser. They appear fine in editor, but lose their material in real game. The culprits are the spare pnz iv gun tube, the loose panzer rounds and the decorative only sdkfz. I can post pics if this doesnt make sense.

Go to the static mesh advanced properties (select mesh and press F4), assign the missing material. BTW, make sure they weren't placed as a ROStaticMeshObstacle.

OK Thanks sir, any idea what might cause the SDK to crash when trying to launch PIE? I assumed it was a Kismet issue, but haven't narrowed it down. A previous save of the map works with the "non working" map's Kismet so Im wondering if its something else. i hate to lose the 6 hours or so of work that I did between the working version and non working.

tried brewing the map and playing it in the game and also crashed.

In my experience, when copy/pasting ROStaticMeshDestructables from one map into another the references to the destructable assets are lost and the mesh changes to a default blue/gray cube and you need to replace everything. This includes the Replication index as well. Does anyone know of a way to do it better or so that one doesn't need to replace everything?

OK I found a "bad" ROObjective that was causing the problem. I dont know what the problem was, but I replaced it and things back to normal...:eek:

back Again... Any idea what would cause a Recon Plane matinee to fly sideways? I copy and pasted the interp actor and matinee from Mamayev. The plane flies sideways but otherwise works. If i rotate the interp actor and then rebrew, the route rotates but the plane still flies sideways.
