Not interested. If they get the game working properly and have a free weekend for RO2, they'll easily make the money. There's no denying that there's a good game here, but for some questionable decisions.

By looking at your sig, you have an up-to-date setup. Doesn't it kind of get under your skin that a 2011 PC only game is using a 5-6 year old graphics api, when UE3 launched with DX10 support?

I can accept that TWI has all the funds necessary, but why would a more efficient graphics api not be the first choice for a PC only game?

- Put the 'real' back into 'Realism' (which will include things like removing fantasy weapons and adding more realistic team loadouts). Leave Relaxed Realism as the game is now.
- Do something with the sound engine to stop it adversely affecting performance so heavily (which includes fixing the god-awful MKB sounds).
- Sort out the tank system. Aside from the pretty tanks (misplaced effort?) the system feels like a pre-beta; very little of it works properly.
- Bring back penalties for being injured (which includes re-thinking the comedy clown bandage mechanic).

EDIT:
- Oh, and stop MGs from being hip-fired while on the move. Silly, silly, silly.

Gents, I would like to point out something. 90% of us is talking about the same changes and simply want to bring more "RO" into HoS and add open, bigger maps. But if you take a look over here, Ramm said:

I would also like to point out that no matter what we'll never be able to get the game exactly like everyone wants it. There are just too many differing opinions. So I would suggest that people play around with the tools we've provided to customize the gameplay to their liking. This is a really great testbed for you guys, and if someone has a certain type of custom setup that gets really popular, it shows us Devs that it is something the community likes. In our last update we added the ability to limit weapon and class perks, which allows those of you that don't like certain high end weapons to limit/prevent their use on your server. Additionally there is functionality to tweak a lot of gameplay parameters (damage, etc) as well. So on both ends of the spectrum you can easily make the game more/less hardcore. So start playing with those values and see if you come up with something that a lot of people like, then let the Devs know about it!

In short words, we need first modders (working SDK) to fix the gameplay, and then "maybe" TWI will release it as official -but that might simply too late. It's quite sad that we have to wait to get back RO spirit into game, where such thing should be released out from the box as normal mode, and relaxed realism as secondary (with all that casual/arcade/gamey stuff).

I need firefights. A guys sitting over at building A and enemy guys over in building B. Firing at each other. Constant bullets back and forth without the casulties per second being over 9000.

So whatever it takes for an actual battle to occur. Main issue seems to be players accuracy. So we need to reduce how accurate us players are somehow.

Better group functions. So I can join with friends and be in the same squad. Allowing us to use whatever weapons we like.

The heart of the problem, IMO, is that all weapons are far too stable when not rested; it takes less than a second to go from movement to rock-steady ADS. Worse, weapon sway is all but non-existent when you've level up a fair bit (another a$$-backward design choice).

IMO RO2 needs more sway (and much more sway if fatigued/injured/bleeding) and a better bullet spread mechanism for the SMGs/pistols. Undeniably the recoil on SMGs in RO:O was a gross exaggeration, but it still worked from a game balance point of view. RO2 is indeed far more accurate to life in the way that recoil has been modelled but the key element that makes SMGs/Pistols very inaccurate beyond 30m, the key element that hasn't been implemented well in RO2, is the bullet spread (some may know this as the hit cone). Pistol charge rounds are not rifle rounds; they weave around and bleed accuracy and punching power at a dramatic rate beyond ~30m. In RO2 I can reliably snipe 100m+ with a PPSh - which is, frankly, daft.

I still play RO2, but not anywhere near as religiously as I'd have hoped to. What I would need to play the game regularly again would be a dedicated Hardcore game mode that focused on making the game more difficult or realistic (as far as weapon loadouts and other aspects).

I would, at the very least, settle for some bigger maps.

I hear the death cries all the time, sure its not a setting on your end or a game bug?

What kind of death cries do you hear? Because the "slow death" cries and when you kill someone are still there, but the long death moans when a soldier twitches on the ground screaming in pain and calling for his mother or whatever are missing.

Co-op campaign
Bots that:
Don't charge into melee whenever they are within 10m
Don't all run to their deaths if unsupervised. (they should hide in fear instead)
Don't get stuck and randomly die
Don't run in front of me (especially while I'm firing)
Don't hang out in such huge groups
Don't respawn infinately (limited reinforcements)
Don't get auto headshots as Tank MGer
DO go prone/crawl as much as they "take cover"
DO follow orders more accurately
DO throw the occasional grenade (I know this is hard to program:( )

A change log like that would bring me back in a heartbeat.

Additional feature I'd like to see:
A survival game-mode where human players fight off waves of bots (like killing floor but NO zombies). Killed players respawn into friendly bots or stay dead till the next wave. Each stage has an achievement to earn.

P4 tanks cost slightly more manpower and take twice as long to respawn (to reflect the larger number of inferior T34s).

MGs cause more suppression and keep their heads slightly lower.

Suppression lasts longer and causes slight inaccuracy.

PPSh default is Drum mag. Reloads slower. Optional unlock box mags reload faster.

Kill Cam doesn't work when killer is 100+ meters away. Kill notification informs you of 100+ m kill.
(maybe this will make people hate it less. It can help gameplay a LOT but probably shouldn't nerf snipers and MGs)

Fix stuttering

Can't say for sure most of the time, since I can only hear them nearby.

Here's my humble list, in no particular order:

  • A viable way to play without the progression system, one that isen't a second class citizen in the server browser.
  • A viable way to play with historically accurate loadouts without having to disable realistic things to get rid of unrealistic ones (example: yes to PPSh with drums and modeselector, no to MP-40/II).
  • Innertia/Momentum for not just player movement, but for weapons aswell, especially heavy ones.
  • Options to disable zoom stage 1, 2 or 1+2 (1= aim button, 2= shift button) for servers wanting that.
  • Slower anims, reloading, weapon switching, aiming, etc, having them this fast prevents tactical depth.
  • Slower movement, not by a lot, but a bit slower would be an improvement.
  • Either nix the bandage system entirely, or make drastic changes to it, bleedout should take longer, bandaging should take longer, but wounds should matter, render you much less combat effective.
  • Make aiming harder, i don't care if it's done via sway, longer time to allign the sights, or any other reasonable mechanic, but the split second aiming has to go, and momentum must be used to prevent instant 180 degree snap shooting.
  • MG's should never be easy hipefired rambo guns, ever, use lots of momentum, nerf the recoil in hip mode if you must, but the game should not incourage people to considder the MG's as "That SMG with the awesome penetration values".
  • Stamina should effect aiming, there needs to be consequences and tactical choices to be made when using sprint.
  • options to tweak and even fully disable lockdown.
  • Tweaks to, or the removal of the "protected area" system, it's putting to many constraints on how and when we can use alternate paths on the maps.
  • Better keybind options, including hold key options instead of only toggle options for all appropriate areas (aim, crouch and use-cover for instance), and the abillity to easilly split the functions of keys with multiple functions (the "F" key beeing a prime example, the "shift" key beeing another).
  • The abillity to mount/dismount bayonets, aswell to choose whitch attachments you want to use or not use from what you've unlocked / what the server allows.
  • The abillity for servers to force levels and attachments to be avalible to all if it wants to allow them in unranked mode, players should not have to first grind for equipment on ranked servers to enjoy playing on an unranked server, it makes no sense, ranked and unranked should not be dependant on eachother like this, they should be sepperate.
  • Spawn protection, and better concealed spawns, spawn-raping should not be happening, dropping arty on spawns shoulden't either, nor should the enemy be able to park a tank half way across the map but have clear line of fire on the enemy spawn.
  • Less automatic weapons and more bolts, with appropriate scaling for servers with fewer slots.
  • Bug fixes and performance tweaks, obviously, adding the missing finishing touches to game UI's and whatnot, standard polishing fair.
  • Server presets with appropriate filter options so we can easilly find them. Options and customization is good, yes, but there is something to be said for server consistancy aswell, and creating some good preset options that we know people will want (because they keep asking for it) is a lot easier than creating entire game modes, so it's a win/win.
And that's what springs to mind right now, enjoy.

EDIT: Added a few more bullet points. Also bear in mind that many of the realism based tweaks i'm suggesting here i only suggest for Realism mode, they may not be equally appreciated by the people who wants to play the relaxed realism mode, and they really don't have to apply to that mode, it's OK if there are some differences in the modes, infact it would be a good thing.

I agree with this completely. I haven't played Red Orchestra for a while and it is mostly to do with bugs and game mechanics. I am honestly fine with my 30 fps. But gameplay needs to improve.

Im still playing quite often but not everyday.
What would make me very happy is a 40% increase in framerate/performance. :D

A smooth game is more important to me than any other feature.

Fixing the stuttering and lag. These are my main issues, and the only turn-off I find in the game.

Some interesting and very good ideas..

If we rub out the bug fixes etc we end with a list that looks like many players on these forums want a much more realistic version available for the realism mode..It may well be that TWI will look into these for future releases as the game moves into the new year or at least consider some.

Very nice too see some a well thought out posts put in a reasonable way without any drama or mudslinging and some wonderful input as well.

A good read so far...:D

Make movement and aiming more realistic, I want to play as a soldier, not a super-soldier. Or to use the words TWI use, feel like I'm in a war, not a war movie. Some examples:

  • The movement speed is realistic if you're running on good ground in a straight line. But not when running indoors making sharp turns indoor, running over rubble or train-tracks.
  • The time it takes to raise your weapon is realistic when standing still. But not if you want to align your sights properly or coming out from a sprint.
  • Considering how fast the sprint is in the game both acceleration and acceleration should be way slower.
  • Reloading is ridiculously fast, especially while moving.
  • Weapon sway is too low, it might be okay if you're braced against something (is this in RO2? I can't tell) but basically no effect from getting exhausted. I saw a video someone posted here on the forum showing the effect. The thing is though that the sway is so small that I've never aimed long enough for it to kick in. It feels like the sway amount doesn't take into account that you can compensate for it.
  • In essence, everything seems to be made realistic in the sense that a super human under the right conditions could do it, but only one at a time.
Leaning is the only thing which I find is very clumsy and very slow in the game, maybe that just is because everything else is so fast. Makes me feel the devs have done everything in their might to promote run and gun gameplay.

Oh yeah, I would need to be able to play the game completely free from the progression system.
I'll sign this as it's pretty much exactly what I think too.
