what would make me seriously dislike hos is if all the maps end up lineair.

For instance Red Square, you can only cap in one straight line which completely removes all interesting tactics from that map. If you could cap the center objectives in any order the map would be a lot more interesting and fun.

I want maps where you can fight in parallel so that every play through is different.

Wont buy it if it doesnt come with crossfire and a decent antialiasing support (sadly many Unreal Engine games have troubles with AA these days). I didnt buy a 400 euros card to play without Antialiasing..........

My biggest worry is that the single player campaigns will just be strings of multiplayer maps arranged in chronological order.

But it won't stop me from purchasing the game.

I don't care about the singleplayer, I play RO for the mutliplayer and I hope that they will use their resources to make the multiplayer better than waste them on singleplayer

This is one of the reasons I like RO and I think so it is for many others too. I don't believe they could screw ROHOS so badly as having boring linear maps only

Game play over visual eye candy any day:)

Look at the current pc market with visually stunning graphics......bah, would rather play RO or PR for the game play.

Er I don't understand what you're talking about here. Regardless of whether the game goes to consoles in the distant future, it's going to release on PC first. That means you're getting a PC game that is unaffected by consoles. Period.

And how can something be a "day one" purchase, if you're going to read up on it first? Typically when you say you are definitely buying something DAY ONE that means you already know the game is going to be amazing -- so much so that you don't even need to read up on it.

Um, it really wasn't that hard to understand. You seem to be looking to be pedantic here in order to score Brownie points.

I wasn't slamming RO2, I just have a couple of minor reservations.

Lol I'm not trying to troll you or anything, I just don't see the sense in either of these statements. Honestly nothing personal.

I think this statement would've been even more convincing had the tone of your entire post been just slightly more passive aggressive.

oh and...

I love you.

I'm not sure what could stop me buying this game (although it would be a box copy so it may be after the release) - even the things i'm not too keen on aren't a big enough deal.

I think the better question may be what would make you stop playing.

In my case it would be a crap online community; certainly ppl cheating but also a bad attitude in general - and this may not be as unlikely as you'd think as us old hand RO purists meet with a new mass of players, in light of the type of game it will be and the setting etc.

The other thing is if there isn't enough new content for the main game, which may occur due to many of our RO guys now working for mods, or the extra work required producing stuff for this engine (particularly the workload required for tanks) - if the maps are generally smaller this may make the game become repetitive over time.
I wouldn't keep playing solely for the leveling up system.

Both of these scenarios may push me more towards coop, which i enjoy anyway, depending on how good it is of course.

I am also worried about a new wave of players coming to HOS when they never played Osfront,I dont need to be playing with the COD *******s thinking there gonna come to HOS and turn it into running and gunning nonsense,Though they would soon realize their COD crap wont work there! (Sorry I hate COD and the whole community)...... I will not so much as watch a trailer for anymore of the crap they put out.

Seriously though, there's not 1 thing that will stop me from buying Heroes of Stalingrad - I will have to buy it to see if I like it ^^ Which will 99.9 percent be yes

I'd have to say, my biggest fear is rampant hackers...

Last 3 titles I have bought were destroyed by hackers within hours of release. (Yes I play other games besides RO).

Please, please, please have an effective anti-cheat system in place for launch.

actually i was more worried about us tbh - presuming (rightly or wrongly) that new players are from cod and reacting as such.
There's a bit of a myth that RO players are mature, understanding and non confrontational - my experience (mod aside) is that that is simply not true.
In fact having played so many shooters including cod I've witnessed and been involved in more nasty slanging matches in RO than most other games.
With the best will in the world I'm afraid your reaction kinda proves my point - we can have a bit of an attitude towards ppl who play mainstream shooters, we take our game seriosuly and don't like it when ppl don't measure up to our expectations.

I also worry about griefers cos our 'serious' reputation means ppl know we will be easy to wind up.

I don't worry about your average cod player because if he embraces the game good luck to him, if he doesn't like it he'll be gone before you know it.

One of the requirements I usually look for that I don't think has been touched on this thread yet is triplescreen gaming.

Eyefinity or TH2GO.

Resolutions such as 3840x1024, 5070x1050 etc. and critically the right aspect ratio's to match them rather than screen stretch.

It's also is a great boon in these examples to have all the HUD on the centre screen.

Here's a hint: Stop using dial-up.

Easy for you to say in England, for some of us it isn't that simple ... I only just got broadband a year ago (because that was the first time we could get it) and I've still got a service that speeds up and slows down at will. We're paying (through the roof I might add) for 1000kbs (8mbit) but we only get 700kbs max, most of the time it's 600 and sometimes when it feels like it that drops to 100-200. Ping to servers 50 miles away sometimes go to 400ms.

Most people have broadband but there's a lot of people who can't just "stop using dial-up".

150-600 is what I get on my 8mbit plan, I have been waiting years for adsl2 but it never comes. Sometime you gotta hate Aus. this reminds me I hope we can play on us servers without it lagging up.

That what I love about RO thinks only start to get choppy with 450+ ping. anyway im sure there will be enough Aussie servers at least for the first few years

Hello, new one here!

A censored German Version.
I hate being patronized, i really do.

And there is no known Workaround for playing a Game uncut over Steam, without a Proxy...which kills my Ping in Games. :(

The only thing that would make me not buy this game is horrible hit-detection and netcode.

1 or 2 years ago I would just take good hit-detection for granted in any multiplayer game but my stint with Bad Company 2 has taught me otherwise.

yes - whether or not cheating is prevelant you like to think a game is treating you fairly - finding yourself frequently feeling cheated by the game itself is a big turn off.
It's important to believe in competitive fps that what has happened probably should have happened.

Good point for a 1st post.
