Just curious. What kind of missing feature\design choice will PREVENT you from buying? To me it's the netcode, I guess I've learned to appreciate prediction from certain other games and I know I'll be pissed off if a ping of 100 is able to screw with my ranged shots.

If at last second the devs go "screw realism, screw Stalingrad, we are making a game where you are an American in a war fighting Nazi-terrorist-zombie-pirate-robots armed with a bloody screen, invinci-suit, and a sniper rifle capable of launching homing chainsaws that explode into more chainsaws. That's before you jump 80 feet, shake it off, and then fly through a window in super-speed after pressing the 'shank button', and then firing red-white-and-blue rockets out of your thumbs into their eyes.

Then you go into 3 hours of interactive cutscenes and manage to secure the nuclear missile bombs from the Aliens, before the Russians randomly attack. This prompts a battle where you then take out akimbo automatic nuclear grenade launchers and enter slow motion, where the enemies become conveniently easy to hit. TWI would then betray me some more by making 11 sequels in the upcoming week, where you can rank up with every kill and become the Ultra Maximum Super Seargant of Insane Seargants to the Extreme Seargants to the Ultimate Seargant Super Max.

It wouldn't make me avoid buying the game, since supporting developers like TWI is something I think every true PC gamer should do, but do agree with the OP, that a sub-par netcode would be gamebreaking.

I am fairly certain tho that it's something I don't really have to worry about.

As a bit of aside note, over the past 6 or so months I've realized that ROHOS is actually the only game I'm really looking forward to.

I enjoy a wide range of different game genres, starting from sports games to RPG's and MMORPG's (only sandbox tho), but I'm really not that obsessed with any of the future releases. This is largely due to the fact that I'm afraid to get hyped up about mainstream games nowadays, since many of them are just way too streamlined and dumbed down for my taste.

I feel like ROHOS is my only hope. :p

If I remember correctly John has a lot of experience with netcode and knows the goods and bads of each type, so I guess you shouldn't worry about that. The attention to less significant details that this game seems to have are a good indicator that you won't see any rushed or hastily "covered" core elements of the game.

Not to mention that RO is doing pretty good with pings up to 150 (from my own experience), but of course you can't always tell the difference between leading your target because of lag or realistic ballistics ;)

Maybe if two months in advance of the release Tripwire announces that there will be not dedicated servers and no mods tools, and then say something chipper like "It makes it easier for the player!" :p

The only feature Im really skeptical about is the Recon Planes. Everything else is looking stellar.

The tank interiors seems a bit unnecessary to me.. a waste of modeling resources at worst but I certainly won't complain about the added quality that feature creates once the game is released and the tanks are done. :IS2:

Really, I can't imagine why anybody who signs up for the forums wouldn't buy the game.

Melbourne, Australia.
No dedication servers.

Modding tools.

Lack of client side server options. Mean that I want to be able to customize the rules on the server to make is the way I like it, Nice and hardcore.

Basically just a lack of things that made the original so good. I can't see anything wrong so far, apart from the crappy AI. But who ever bought Ro to play against bots?

It's a mp game through and through.

I'm with timur and mo0nbuggy1 on this one, the only things that could put me off HoS is if they suddenly:

1) Forgot their roots in realism, and just made it a generic cookie cutter shooter.

And/or

2) Forgot their PC roots, and made what basically has the features of a bad Console port.

That's what it would take to put me off.

The more I think about this thread, the more I think the question posed by it is silly (no offense OP, really).

I mean, the only reasons that would stop most people here from buying this game are lack of features we already know will be implemented. I'm sure TWI would sooner cancel the game than turn it into an arcadeish consoleish generic shooter, with no dedi servers, no mod tools, etc.

That would be awesome (if done right).

Now to the OP question: Paid DLC Maps.

If this game drops whilst I'm feverishly catching up on all my uni work before exams. Although that is a lie, I'll get it anyway.

actually, if they went all out in a comedy-action game featuring insanley-over-the-top features and extreme parody of other games, I would buy that; it actually could be done well to be utterly hilarious as well as fun. But I certainly wouldn't be buying as an RO title ;)

a large comet striking the earth and causing a mass extinction of all life on the planet.
That would most likely stop me buying it.
