Most of the tweaks/changes that will bring me back (well, keep me playing once I reinstall next week) have been mentioned.

My biggies are:
Hit reg issues
Removal of the stats system giving boosts to longer playing players
Loads of UI fixes.

But one of the biggest things, which will sadly never happen, would be for Tripwire to ditch the real-world maps they've tried to create, which in my view, offer quite poor gameplay in places, and go off and make a chunk of "inspired by" maps, with a focus on how the maps flow and ebb and simply that the focus is that they're good maps to play.
(which tbh, is the same issue BF3 has, 3/4 of the maps aren't very good, 1 is downright utterly terrible)

I hate having to click to respawn. Allow me to set a default and skip the extra clicking.

Yeah I find it hard to get into it when I have to click on it every time. I get more easily distracted by random things that way and end up quitting the game because I lost interest...and go back to playing RO1.

Larger maps and vehicles and more areas that need to be fought for. Bottlenecks and such.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I finally started enjoying the game more, because the performance was finally reflecting my system's capability.
So, I thought that from now on, it can just become better as TWI is gonna fix everything.
Last night however, I played Barracks on the Russian team. And when realizing that 3 teammates were carrying Mkbs and 2 guys an MG 34, I simply quit...

Please TWI, re-think your progression system regarding enemy weapon loadouts. And please please please, make the Mkb being available FOR ONE HERO on the Axis team. Of course, only if you cannot accept completely taking it out of the game.

#1 Game stabilty. Im absolutely fed up with random crashes to desktop. I quit playing this game for this reason alone. Ive submitted probably 15+ crash logs to the devs...still no answers or a fix.

#2 Ping. Ping goes hand in hand with hit detection. I wont even join a server or play in a server if the ping is over 150.

#3 New maps. Old ones are played to death. We need to SDK and new maps from TW to keep things interesting.

On a side note. Who cares about new weapons/tanks if theyres balace and gameplay issues. Only when balance and gameplay issues are solid and worked out should new weapons and vehicles be included.

Larger maps
No secondary zoom, ADS zoom is enough.
Stamina affects sway
Health affects sway and movement speed where applicable
Stamina has a greater affect on movement speed.
Shorter sprint distance.
Slower to ADS
Inertia - if possible in the engine. It seems like there's little to none now.
Weight of your loadout has a greater affect on movement speed.
Terrain influences your speed, hills and stairs should slow you down.
Slow bandaging waay down.
SL system is useless now.
Footsteps, I'd like to hear them.
Being able to prone in more places.
Sticky cover system, I'd be happy to turn it off. It's so unpredictable, I never use it.
Kill the one button to rule them all allocation. What a dumb idea, we aren't using consoles, we have plenty of keys at our disposal.


Basically, a decent realism mode or mod would get me enthused to play again.

I think what TWI needs to do is just slow the game down. Things are happening way too fast in RO2, maybe because there is no fear of a reload sequence that takes all of half a second, maybe because you can sprint so fast and, due to the way the netcode is handled, not get shot by anyone. The game has just become so hyper, it approaches COD and BF3, meaning that COD and BF3 players will just play their games and not RO, while the diehard RO players have abandoned ship and either gone back to RO ost or left for other games.

After reading alot of threads above I more or less agree with most of them.

The poll posted really was a list of realism issues we had to choose from, rather than just put them altogether and say this is what we want we get to choose minor realism issues, where really it needs looking at as a whole..

From slowing the game down, to fatigue and realsitic hit effects on movement etc. To unlocks and the silly idea of bneign able to choose any weapon from anyside, thus really ending up with no distinction between the forces involved.

So lots need to be addressed before I even reinstall the game. Was taking up space so off it went.

Just make it like "Darkest Hour", add a bit more accurate weapons
and all the GOOD little improvements from RO2 (check ammo,
duck while MG on bipod ...)
Bing > best RO you can get.

Also that TWI stop ignoring us, starts to ignore kiddies, cause they
all went to BF3/MW3 (look at CD and FF mode, nearly noone is still
playing this).

Bring back Ostfront weapon loadout specific to each map and get rid of all unlocks.
Once again i mention idea that, achievements, medals, other awards should be exposed in main menu after game launch.
It is annoying when someone takes your weapon in the game because he got promoted, and in addition you cant respawn until you choose role again.

I dont know, to be honest.
People have listed quite a lot of improvements and changes that I do agree with, things that'd probably make the game more fun.

I looked at what Steam's statistics said today, and it showed that there were more people playing Americas Army 3 than there were people playing Red Orchestra 2, and while RO2 had more players during peak, it was only about 100 player difference.
I dont know how much has changed with AA3 since I tried it, but considering how awful it was, and probably still is as a shooter game, I think it says a lot about which state RO2 really is.


Its a shame really, there was a lot potential but somehow people just dropped the ball with it.
Im curious to see what sort of mods people come up with, if the modders think its worth doing.

I still remember that weird, magical moment which I had during some chaotic winter fight in Darkest Hour. No other shooter game has ever given me a similar feeling. I just wanted to live and survive through the chaotic push we were doing over that cold field and forest, it was total chaos, it just felt like... well.. war? And getting through it alive was my only goal.
