The 96 Light machine gun was common. They produced it from 1936-45 So we will have to see them in the game. The type 11 light machine gun could be added, Because the built around 30 thousand of them. Though they stopped building it in 1941, it still was used by frontline troops untill the end of the war. The type 99 was the most well known japanese light machine gun. So that will be in there no problem i guess.

The 3 Japanese heavy machine guns, the type 3, type 1 and the type 92 were all very common throughout the Imperial army during the war.

Don't know if someone posted this idea, sorry if its the case. But anyway:

I think it's important that in the maps like Guadacanal that the marines got the Springfield 1903's, M1928 Thompson (maybe even with drum magazine), and the Reising M50 and as MG the water cooled M1917 as well as the older version of the BAR. And in later years/maps the weapon gets changed to M1 Garands, M1Carbines (alot of Carbines) M1A1 Thompsons, M1919, Modern BAR's.

The T38 model of 1938 bolt-action rifle was one of the more prevalent infantry rifles... I think it was more common than the T99, but I may be wrong.

Japan's primary machine gun was the Type 92, but I'm not sure how the tripod thing would work in RO. I'd hate to see the devs make some kind of anachronistic bipod for the sake of gameplay... but I'd also hate to see the weapon excluded entirely. It could be fed by either a belt or a clip. A 30 round clip.

Very interesting...

It seems any tank inclusion would be terribly one sided. Maybe no tanks in this mod? :(

Would be strange not include the Sherman somewhere though.

At the the very least, the maps would probably have us already on the beach/inland:attacking/defending. No vehicles, no static weaponry.

Don't worry, I doubt my own theory too :)

But if I'm right, that's the day I win the Lotto...

I would actually love to see the not as know, but more common MG's of the Jap army.

Like the MG that holds 6 stripper clips.

That would be the Type-11.

In fact, that whole video series is a good one, although sometimes they're a bit overcritical IMO.

Anyway, the IJA HMG's could simply be stationary weapons, like AT guns in RO:OF. In real life it takes a crew of 2 to operate one and a crew of 4 to move it around. Obviously this thing isn't going to be going anywhere.

For the sake of gameplay the IJA AT-rifle penetration values may have to get juggled. If RO were absolutely realistic to begin with the Russian AT rifle would be worthless.

Anyway, here's what I [may] expect to see for the IJA side:

Type-38 rifle
Type-38 carbine
Type-44 carbine
Type-97 sniper rifle
Type-99 rifle

Type-92 Revolver
Nambu Type-14
Nambu Type-94

Type-11 lmg
Type-96 lmg
Type-99 lmg
Type-97 lmg (inside of vehicles)

Type-92 hmg
I don't see any point in featuring the Type-1 or Type-3 hmgs

Type-97 AT rifle

Type-97 or 99 hand grenade
Rifle Grenade Launcher
Type-98 Knee Mortar.

Type-1 47mm AT gun
Type-11 75mm AT/AA gun
Type-96 25-mm AA gun (triple-barrel configuration)
Type-92 "Battalion Gun" (70mm howitzer)

Type-98, 320mm mortar on an Iwo Jima or Okinawa map.

Ehh, I may as well go into tanks now.
Type-94 Te-Ke
Type-95 Ha-Go
Type-4 Ke-Nu

Type-97 Chi-Ha
Type-97 Chi-Ha Shinhoto
Type-97 Chi-Ha with 150mm howitzer

Type-2 Ka-Mi

Type-1 Ho-Ha
Type-1 Ho-Ki

Type-1 Ho-Ni (only available in small numbers, but may need to be featured to balance against Sherman Tanks)
Type-4 Ho-Ro simply because it looks funny.

Well, I think they should add tanks. I know when i'm playing as a jap hiding in a hole wait to sneak up on some G.I's , I would feel much happy'er if I had a littler Jap scrap driving around shooting off rounds at whatever. Even if it was unbalanced, it would still be fun. Maybe if the limited tanks to certain maps? Like as Peleliu air field, And maybe have one or two Shermans, And three or four Jap tanks? Just an idea, But I think it would be a pity not to add them.

The answer is that you can expect some of the worst weapons used in world war 2. Machine guns fed with stripper clips, pistols that fire at the most inappropriate times, bolt action rifles that don't fire at all, and tanks that weren't bulletproof.

Well, Early Japanese weaponry was quite innovative, And was quite good for standards in the '30s. They proved to be weapons well suited to what the Japanese needed at the time.

But when the war in 1941 broke out, Japanese weaponry was out dated and Japanese started to lack, For one the man power to build weaponry, The materials needed to produce them and also Japan never really fully adapted to new military technology, Like the other countrys had, Such as bigger tanks and guns. Because in the Japanese mind, their stuff had served them well so far.

Thought they did have prototypes of certain Tanks to counter the large American ones, They could not be entered into the game, As they where not produced other then the odd few.

I'll admit I'm no expert on Japanese weapons all I can say is that alot of their guns and vehicles make me laugh hysterically, not the kind of reaction you want from a gun or tank....
