Can't wait for the classic mode!
But I also want body collision and attachable/detachable bayonets on the list.

I like your post Yoshiro , just some questions.

- How do I get RO2 Beta in my steam libary

-will you only put in the mg 34 with drum mag ? I would like to see the mg with a belt. A sugestion: Like in DH give every squad a mg 34 with drum mag and one "company" mg with belt. So maybe 3 mg 34 with drum and one with belt. The whole thing could be balanced ( I think mg 34 with belt is more powerfull than russian mg) by giving the soviets more svt

Zoom will remain, I think people should be learn to read English. They decide to remove correctly the breath-hold system that seems like our soldier goes in apnea. But zoom in iron sight will remain just like now.

These changes are OSOM. Thank you Tripwire. I don't know how you can support a game for long time like you without sell nothing (dlc, skin, maps).

But eliminating zoom would mean that all shooting beyond 150m is negated or just becomes pixel hunting.

I know that people in this game are whining for being shot at 200m while playing Rambo, but, if you read any wartime manual, you will learn that being at 200-300m from the enemy was considered a close distance, where being not in cover/concealment was considered to be extremely dangerous.

If you increase sway, hitting someone at 300m would be very difficult, as it was in real life, but a prone rifleman or machine gunner, with enough time to adjust the sight, could do that. But if you eliminate zoom, nobody will see the enemy at 300m (except marksmen) and the game will just became very close quarters combat. Surely war, in real life, was not just very close quarters combat.

Please reconsider that.

Thanks
Maraz

Hum, I interpreted as that they're not removing the actual zoom function, but the insta-no-sway-mode you get when you hit shift while in IS. Let's hear what TWI have to say about this particular matter before jumping the gun!
BOoo, beaten by Darro

Otherwise, great to hear about this. Is there a possibility of setting up some kind of beta-RO2 subforum for this classic mode where we can give direct feedback on weapons/classes/maps and report potential new bugs when the time comes?

I thought that at first, but Yoshiro said:
Removal of "controlled breathing" zoom, but retaining the functionality to help steady the weapon as well as the slight iron sight zoom
I thought he meant the controlled breathing while zooming, but he didin't say that. Maybe a typo though....

Not in how we are looking at the data and the additional comments and feedback that people posted there and in other threads. As I said, realism is very subjective. Many of our additions to the RO franchise for RO 2 were designed to be more realistic. But these are many of the same things that this group of players take issue with. Or in another way, we will be trying some some less realistic things to gain the realistic experience that players want for this.

This post along with several others in this thread have actually restored my faith in the future of this game and that TWI actually understands what several of the different groups in its playerbase want. As someone who has now played RO2 (despite it bugs) more than RO1 I find most of the changes made for RO2 do add to the realism. They can certainly be tweaked and fixed, but that doesn't change that they were a step in the right direction if what you were looking for in RO2 is a more realistic and funner game than RO1 instead of a game play experience similar to RO1. It seems like TWI has realized that one gameplay mode can't appease both of these groups.

I'm hoping the introduction of RO classics means that Hardcore Realism mode can now break free of the chains that made it have to be similar to RO1 and instead focus on being a more realistic gameplay mode. Can it still use features from RO1 and RO classic mode like leg wounds impeding movement speed? Absolutely, the important thing is that it does it not because it was in RO1, but instead because its more realistic. This won't be a quick process, but hopefully a year from now we'll be able to see the improvement.

As far as what we are doing with networking, we are not adding lag compensation or client side hit detection.

:(

This is the real problem with the game. Making everyone badly shortsighted and arthritic doesn't sound like an improvement to me. I doubt anyone could fault shooting depending on real life bullet ballistics instead of fluctuating network/server lag.

Exciting news. Especially the PPSh from day one with drum mag and fire-mode selector.

I expect that at least 2/3 of populated servers in Europe / Russia will have this mode playing within hours of release, and then well into the forseeable future.

One thing:

This is the list we are currently looking at:
  • MKB42 with bayonet (no scope) (Level 1)

We are also looking at the inclusion of the Elite Assault role back into the game in case the creator of a map wants the MKB/AVT to be available.

Was the inclusion of the MKB in the above list an error, as your later statement suggested?

He means: there is some zoom while going into IS. Then you have a button to control your breathing, but it doesn't add extra zoom.

One thing I am a little worried, lockdown. I think maps you released are designed for lockdown. Grain Elevator: from the Motherland it is very important to push nazi out from B and C, lockdown help to do this, because reinforcement are cut off when Nazis get the second floor. Without lockdown this map will result unbalanced.

Depends if people want realistic gameplay. If not, then classic will dominate.

As far as what we are doing with networking, we are not adding lag compensation or client side hit detection. But we are looking to find what is going crazy in our current system and fix it. We aim to provide a similar experience to RO 1 and much of what we are doing involves watching and digging into the engine to find out what it is doing differently so we can address it.

WOOOOOT!!!!!!

also the RO clasic mode sounds pretty cool. cant wait to see how it all works out
