Thanks Yoshiro, I'm one of the people who left for a bit while problems were fixed, but when I came back I was so pleased to see things had improved and now I'm happily playing almost every night. There are still things I'd like to see changed, I'm sure everyone has their list, but I'd like to you to know that I for one really appreciate the work TWI are doing, and certaibly not everyone has the negative feelings for the game you might get the impression of from some of the posts here.

I'm genuinely loving RO2 now, I'm seeing proper team play, less run and gun, and more of the game I always hoped RO2 would be. Good on you all, and here's for more of the same in 2012. Yeah that's a bit kiss arse, but just wanted to balance out some of the negativity on the boards.

PS could I please have a flying mount for this.

I know many of you also want to know what we are looking at in terms of changes to RO 2. With luck I should have some things to post about in this area in next weeks "What we are up to".

Even though my birthday is tomorrow this has suddenly become the most important day on my calender for December. Really anxious to read about what these potential changes are.

I'm glad the good work carries on, performance has reached an acceptable level, i'm eager to see what comes next :)

Now every evening we got nearly 1200 people playing, 2 weeks ago it was still around 800. Keep it up !!!

Haha, Mosin I see your point but I think the community's skin is to soft for your rash critisism :p

(He's not a troll btw)

It's not like every game has free weekends anyway, besides, I'm sure TWI wants to really spruce the game up a bit with some cleaning before they make a move like that, it's a delicate thing putting your game on a showcase for two days.

I think when they add the new ping stabilization and performance increase, tied in with the SDK and new maps, it'll be good.

As a player returning to Ro2 after a month or so in BF3, I can't stress enough how important these weekly updates are to the community. You have a great game on your hands, it all just depends on how you handle it. Red Orchestra 2 is a much needed breath of fresh air in the FPS genre and there are more than enough players willing to sink their teeth into your vision of the eastern front as long as the proper content/support is provided.

Personally, I have noticed significant performance improves in the patches since release and I commend the Tripwire team on their efforts. I recognize that for many others, the game still suffers from many performance/compatibility issues, however I am holding out hope that these issues are just about cleared up. You have undoubtedly heard this a million times, but after core issue such as lag, hit detection, balance, etc. are addressed the most important factor in this games longevity is the maps and level of realism.

The fact is that you have developed a game which will work better on large, open maps. To be honest, it baffles me as to why you decided smaller maps such as Apartments and Barracks would better suit a realistic, tactical WWII FPS. Before you all start giving me a history lesson, I understand that the battle of Stalingrad was waged in close quarters and that a lot of combat occurred in confined, urban areas. However, I believe that the gameplay of Ro2 is truly suited for the type of maps we saw in ROOST.

Yoshiro, have you guys started looking at the class selection screen and squad selection screen and considered
a)switching them
b)axing the class selection

or other solutions?

I think it is a really poor system that is not useful, bugged (squad screen) and it hurts teamplay a lot; new players don't even know what squad they are in.

Another problem is that using the class screen is FASTER than the squad screen, so all noobs and people that just want a big rifle but don't do anything for the team (except throwing smoke) get to the positions first.

Good players that want to organize a team then, find the vital roles unavailable. Many rounds I want to squadlead but some rambo always takes it for the smg.

I have posted about this a lot, but it seems TWI is not recognizing this design flaw, even though it was severely bugged from day 1 of the beta... and it still is exactly the same. Plz give thoughts on this. If TWI has no plans to change this, I would really like to know so that I can now if it is worth for me to keep playing this game as I am waiting for a solutipon to these vital problems.

Can I just second that the notion you guys at TWI really need to make attachments selectable as one of the reasons I've not gone back to RO:HOS in the past 2 months is that many weapons become rediculously rubbish with certain upgrades e.g the scout optics on the MK42B or a bayonet on a sniper. I really don't understand what would be so difficult in giving players the chouce in what is on their gun, especially when unlocks are such a big part of the game - I think it should of been in the game from day 1 personally!

Looking forward to the KF update going to be gifting that game to a few friends at Christmas :).

Close ... range ... hit ... detection.
EDIT - Disregard my comment on ping improvement. The update only mentions FPS improvements.

Anyhow, thank you Tripwire for your continued support to the RO2 community. Please don't get discouraged by all the criticism. Even though I'm not a fan of the progression system as is - and would like to see more content soon - I do love this game. You guys are on the right track!
