Good evening (morning/afternoon) everyone.
This weekly update comes a bit late (I usually manage to get this post ready on Tuesday) but we are having a busy week here at Tripwire. Along with the work that we continue to put into Red Orchestra 2, we have also put out our now yearly update for Killing Floor with several new Christmas presents for its players as well as starting a free week for it tomorrow. If you haven't played KF before, it will be the perfect chance for you to give it a go.
Speaking of free weekends, we've had many requests and questions as to why we haven't done one for Red Orchestra 2 yet. The answer is simple. We don't think it is ready for that just yet. We continue to focus our efforts into performance issues for RO 2 and are in the final stages of testing a patch for this week that should boost FPS for all players (I believe quad core machines will see more of a boost) as well as once again minimize hitching.
In this patch we've also addressed a few bugs and issues raised by the community. Among those, weve added a delay between when commanders can issue a reinforcement wave in countdown so players won't accidentally waste a wave either by players dieing and an automatic wave being triggered as well as other conditions where it could happen.
We expect this patch to go live within the next day or two depending on how testing goes.
Now I'll have to apologize. It doesn't look like the SDK will make it this week. We are still finalizing it for release for everybody and checking to make sure end users can grab the content properly from servers. We hope this will go quickly and without issue, but we can't guarantee that.
Like I mentioned last week, our focus continues to be performance as well as looking into the ping issue. I know many of you also want to know what we are looking at in terms of changes to RO 2. With luck I should have some things to post about in this area in next weeks "What we are up to".
Until then, happy gaming everyone!
