There were high-quality pictures of a Stuart laying around somewhere, but as we've heard nothing about vehicles since then I'm assuming they're not in. It would certainly seem strange to never show or even mention vehicles in any of the new trailer/in-game footage/interview videos so far if they were in, wouldn't it?

I agree it would add brownie points, but there's no way I'm forking out any more for RO2 stuff until we see half-tracks, light tanks and at least a couple of large, RO1/DH-style combined arms maps. As I've said, I don't have too much of an interest in the Pacific theatre anyway, but I just have certain (admittedly stubborn) red lines when it comes to this sort of stuff, and I don't feel comfortable purchasing DLC until I get the sort of basic stuff I stupidly assumed would be in the release version or at least be added afterwards - for free and within a reasonable time scale.

ATM computer games are usually marketed as products. No sane person expects the sunroof for their car to be cheaper than what someone would pay for the same sunroof on a second-hand version of that car.

No sane person would expect that manpower is shifted for a new sunroof design before the seats are implemented. I am pretty sure that you guys will deliver a fantastic expansion worth paying for, and I am gonna buy it without a doubt when there are still people left but I hope you can understand that this frustrate alot of people.

while i like many welcome the news that RS isn't gunna cost me a fortune, I clealy see where the others are coming from with the complaints that much of the promised stuff for RO is still missing.

Maybe Yosh can gives us some kind of idea how long Halftracks / Tanks and other features are likly to be in coming ( Ball park not carved in stone ) are we looking first quater next year etc ....

at least then the others will have some kind of idea of when to start bigger maps etc as many already have which they can put on back burner till they get halftracks etc to test them

Good suggestion, but if I may suggest, words can only go so far as we're seeing in these threads. We've been told about transports being worked on since before RO2 was still in beta stages, we've been hinted at a number of times already that we'll soon hear more details on their status, yet that never comes and we're told again that info will come soon.... We've even been given some details regarding the light tanks that they're working on, but nothing beyond "they're being worked on" and then nothing more said.

We see these WIP screenshots of the maps they're working on... So we know those exist, yet I never once seen any evidence towards the existence of these vehicles other than words.

I know TW can't give us a ballpark estimate on when to expect these vehicles, as we all know what happened when they told us their predicted release date for the game and then had to push it back...... But a WIP screenshot or two showing what they have for their transports at this time would go a long way in easing many people's minds that they do exist and have at least been started.

Hell if they've been talking about the transports since before the game's launch, one would think there's something for the community to at least look at and oogle over in the meantime until they're released.

TW even said way back that they wanted to get back to their mod roots.... Well one thing I remember seeing often (which helped keep the community morale high and excited) were screenshots and other snippets of media showing us what was in the works.

Hell, we're getting videos of gameplay for a mod that won't be released until sometime in 2013..... Giving us a little sneak peak at the transports, tanks or weapons they have in developmet at this stage would go a very long way in keeping the hype up in the community.... As well as give people plenty to talk about regarding future gameplay, tactics to expect, suggestions on things to add, etc.... Rather than just doom and gloom all the time.

It worked well back in the mod days I thought.

It'd work well today with RO2...... Unless of course there isn't anything to show at this stage except some pencil drawings or just some 3D cubes roughly modelled in the shape of something..... That would certainly p*as a lot of people off if this whole time was all talk with nohing to show.

But I know that couldn't be the case.... Right TW? *poke poke nudge nudge*

Yup... the last version of the Mod was Red Orchestra: Combined Arms v3.3.

I still have it on my system ready to launch anytime I feel like playing some old school.

I'd have to agree with much of what you have been saying..... but something just crossed my mind with this topic of Combined Arms/Vehicles and Rising Storm.

I didn't see anything in a quick search in the RS section, nor have I heard anybody mention anything towards this..... but are there plans on Rising Storm to have vehicles?

Rising Storm having vehicles and making it a CA game would certainly add brownie points to my view of the game.... if it's just infantry only gameplay, then that will take a few points off.
rising storm is an alpha. we don't know what's going to be in the finished product yet. just be happy with what they show us, as it progresses to beta and then release. no reason to think too hard, about what is or isn't there till the beta, at least.

My thoughts were more along the lines if they started work on them they will have some idea on how much is left to do to finnish

Kinda think of a number then double it to be on safe side.

lots are getting quite upset that halftracks are not coming but for all we know they could be a long way along the design & implementation path.

Only the devs actually know how close / far away they are from completion

maye if not a idea of when maybe we can get a % of completion idea with some knid of time scale to get to that stage

I'm tired of hearing how small the tw developing team is anymore, it's a poor excuse. They just don't focus their attention to the right things. People begged for colored chat which we expected to be in the game on release and it wasn't there. Finally a faithful fan of ro decided to take some time out of his life an create a mutator that takes him about an hour to develope and implement. I mean comon something so easy to implement but yet so important and it takes the community to put it in the game. I'm certainly losing faith in the game. Yeah the devs are a small team but it's their fault their dipping there fingers in so many different areas. Rising storm is a perfect example of that too.

Congratulations Tripwire. You managed to make a bad RO1 map worse. Only you could pull something like this off.

I'm hoping there are a few changes in objective locations to compensate for the lack of troop transports otherwise its going to be a very tedious map to play. In RO1 the map was an annoyance even with troop transports, I'm hoping this will be better though.

I think what would be nice is if the community get to vote which map should be made if they're doing RO1 map remakes.

Put Kursk, Bridges, Ogledow, Cold Steel, Eagles Nest, Die Bresche, Univermag, Bakovka,
Butovo, Gumrak Station, Koitos, Arad 2 - that's 12 - and they feel like a free DLC to me !

Bottom line is RO2 is my favorite game, and anything coming up that expands it is very welcome
after The Crash of 2008 slowed most companies plans.

I second this. If there are going to be remakes then they should be of maps that were popular and well liked.

Is that so they can be overplayed all over again? :x

I'd like to see how they do make such changes with troop movments to the map, I didn't play it too often in RO:OST, and when I did, I usually tried to ge the tank roles.

the adjusting spawn placements will do the job

I assume you are referring to the closer spawn placements we see in RO2, in which case I disagree. Closer spawn placement is the bane of RO2 map design, imo, as it shrinks the effective playing size of the map, with all the consequences that follow from that.
