I like all 3, so I voted all 3. When on a CA map, I tend to go tanker, when available.

While lots of infantry players here, seem to have tank maps, and vote for only infantry maps, I don't think many tank fans would vote for no infantry maps, as that's integral to a FPS. So keep that in mind when looking at poll results.

CA + infantry (If there are CA maps, we can make it tank only, not a big deal, considering there is an SDK do play with). Just make tanks as they were. Infantry is way to overpowered in Ostfront with lots of PTRDs, satchels and PZFs, tanks are not feared, because they are easy to avoid/destroy. The balance was quite good in early versions of DH, when tanks had little opposition and thus being a pain in da arsch.

Are there any active servers though? I remember noticing a sig reading that the only populated RO server is 24/7 Danzig.

I love playing all three. Although with Tank Only games you need some dedicated players, it doesn't work well in pubbie rotation.

I will say I'd like to see maps with 1:1 real world scale, especially urban ones. Specifically like the later Berlin/urban maps that came out from modders later in RO's life cycle. Leningrad, Paiserplatz, Kriegstadt

Despite what the naysayers in the forums would have you believe, there are still a lot of active players for RO. As a matter of fact, the player counts for RO haven't really gone down at all in the past year and a half. The only difference is, about 30% of the RO players now play the Darkest Hour mod for RO instead of Vanilla RO.

@ Discoisntdead

that was my sig and it said "top US ranked server is 24/7 Danzig" and that it's a sign that RO is dying (at least in america), which is completely true ;) i changed my sig cause it was getting too big so that part got cut out :D

it's not naysaying, it's being HONEST with yourself. RO in May was still peaking at about 1500 each day (thanks to the sale/update in March when it was peaking at 1700). this time last year it was still peaking at 2000 each day. RO even combined with DH now is only about a 1000 peak each day and has been that way since early july. that's a 50% reduction in one year. :( sorry it hurts, but that's the truth for you.

however

there are still a decent number of EUROPEAN servers that get filled consistantly with players during the afternoon/evening european time. if you're in the US, have good internet and can play in the early/mid afternoon, then you can get some good battles in on those servers. if you're american and not in the eastcoast or can't play early, then the only american server that is really an option is TaT's 24/7 Danzig. usually on thursdays the =OF= server will fill for their tank night which is always fun. basically if you're in europe, you'll be able to find plenty of servers with people so dont worry about it. if you're in the US/Canada, you're just going to have to schedule around when the peak hours are and tough it out having a higher ping in the european servers.

for only $15, you should definitely pick it up. even if the only server you can play in is 24/7 danzig, it's still really fun. if you want to get a preview of HOS then playing ROOST is the best thing you can do. plus if you want to make suggestions like in this poll for example, you should really try out some of the maps to help you get a good feel for the game. overall it will be the best $15 investment you'll ever make :)

Why do you need to keep it a 24/7 Danzig server though? I can understand traffic might falter if you started adding a bunch of custom stuff, but you guys could at least rotate the stock maps.

Actually, that's completely untrue. I've got exact player stats going back over a year for every single day sitting right in front of me. Exactly a year ago RO was peaking at around 1000-1100 players, in May RO was peaking at around 1000-1100 players. In June Darkest Hour was released on Steam. Currently RO peaks at about 800-900 players, and Darkest Hour peaks at around 300 players. Add those two together, and you have 1100-1200 players at peak for RO and its mods. As a matter of fact, even going back two years there isn't much more than a 10% difference in player counts. Sorry, but the stats don't lie. It might be harder to find a Vanilla RO server in certain areas than it was a while back due to some of the community playing DH, but the same amount of people are playing now that have been playing for the past couple of years.

I voted infantry and CA maps. My favorite gameplay for RO is on maps like Odessa or danzig where there are some narrow chokepoints but still options for the defenders and attackers where to take/hold.

ROOST did not contain too many good CA maps tbh but the potential for great maps is there. Ogledow is a very well balanced fight between infantry and tanks. Konigs is the best CA map ever and shows how good tank/infantry synergy can be. I really hope there are more maps like this in HoS.

Wow I had no idea. Still in terms of the NA community there must be some kind of dropoff considering TWB's east coast is empty every night.
