Over here, no not there, here.
You can't win em all. We didn't win... but you should have seen the other guy. ;)
See I can accept that we lost. What annoys me is when people say "Oooh America got pwnd by a bunch of farmers with sticks and rocks :O"
And I don't even need to explain how abhorantly ignorant every part of that sentence is.

Korean War:
-we have many assets already in-game,
-its a war not covered by many games but still can hold public interest,
-and its a chance to introduce some weapons not available in your typical ww2 game.

Why is the Sino-Japanese War never an option in these kinds of polls...

Because 9 out of 10 people never ever heard from this war.
Like I said I put up choices of conflicts with a realistic chance of being a successful game...

I'd love a First Indochina War setting.

I've been reading a lot about this conflict and the more I do, the more I also think
it would be perfect for Red Orchestra style gameplay.

You are completly right, Cobra Trooper. That scenario would be very interesting.
It was even on my list for this poll, but I deleted it cause I thought 2 wars in the same country is a bit much. :D
And if a vietnam game would not make it, a Indochina game would not make it either...

But yes, I would like to see it! we can continue dreaming...

If we break from WW2, I think I'd perfer a fictionalized early-cold-war (NATO vs Warsaw).. there was alot of wacky stuff both sides developed that could be fun to implement.
Korea would of course fit this bill as well but it never seems that Korea gets the recognition it deserves, at least in the US.

If we stick with WW2, I think there is plenty of theatres that could just be fleshed out easily enough.. early war would be cool but I don't think people would really get into it like later-war stuff. One of the most fun I've had in RO1 was in some of the mods running around in light tanks.

TW has the assets for WWII and has covered the Eastern Front and the Pacific Front.
Now is the time to open the Western Front.

So many possibilities :
A fresh take on the D-Day battles
Get the British involved at Arnhem or Pegasus Bridge or some Commando Raids
Winter warfare at Bastogne with the 101st Airborne

enough interesting locations to keep the level designers busy for sure

Desert's boring. There are no buildings, no foliage, no wood, no rocks, nothing. As a finn, I'd like to see Winter War game/mod but realistically speaking I think Korea would be great. It's not overused, the terrain is interesting, weaponry is not too high tech etc.

Between Rock and a Hard Place
Since the RO has "always" been about eastern front, I'd say during/after Operation Bagration or late-war period in general (early 1944 to victory in Berlin).

And before that, expand RO2 to cover whole mid-war period (early 1942 to late 1943)

What new expansion do ya like to see in the RO franchise? (either RO2 or the next generation)

I did not include "modern warfare" because there is a thread about it already running and I did not include "classic Ostfront" because its nothing new. I just included new conflicts that have a realistic chance of being a successful game.

I would like to see Afghanistan cause this war is not portraited in any FPS shooter so it would be a real novelty.
Imagine: a mighty Hind helicopter - 1 pilot, 1 weapon operator, 2 Mg gunners at the bay doors and
a squad of speznaz soldiers in the back waiting to deploy! Teamplay at its best!

With the high russian player count of RO2 you can figure out
that a RO:Afghanistan game will have a great russian fanbase!

Or the desert warfare in Africa...

Leave Afghanistan to Insurgency. Red Orchestra OWNS ww2 right now and I would sooner see it kept that way.

Obivously WW2 again.
What else do you want???

WW1-Boring. Artillery and mgs reign the battlefield. I know Tripwire could make some good maps with tanks and americans in 1918 but then we are pretty close to WW2 gameplay.

Korean war?
Seriously? Was there a single balanced battle in Korea?

Vietnam
50.000 dead US soldiers against million vietnamese. Does not sound fair. Warfare started to be really one sided in this period. Super high tech weapons against masses of guerillas.

I prefer WW2 for RO2. :D
No matter if early war or late war.

we could try it the british way... walking the battlefield with a walking stick after a big bombardement... to get mawed down by german MGs^^

i personally think that WW2 is the most interesting era for such games because, well because it's tin my opinion roughly he border between "modern warfare" with computer assited targeting and stuff, rockets everywhere^^ assault rifles etc. and the "old" style, no Computers in use, not that many rockets in use (besides the unguided on some planes and the Panzerfuasts/Schrecks/bazookas etc.) Bolt-Action and Semi automatic rifles and stuff
