So many awesome potential theaters and battles in WW2, it would be a shame if they jumped on the bandwagon and did modern combat. It's just not compelling, IMO.

Why not Italy? The Gothic Line, the Gustav Line, the Barbara Line, the Volturno Line, the Bernhardt Line, the Trasimene Line, the Invasion of Sicily, Anzio Bridgehead, ... so much potential, none of it really ever done.

The front didn't move for almost 3 years.

Which front? Do you realize it was called a World War because there was more than one front? Do you realize that in the beginning and near the end of the war there were larger territorial gains?

Etc etc.

Its one thing to not like it, everyone is entitled to their opinions, its another to base your opinions on lack of information :D

Yes, so much untouched in WW2 really, and so many OTHER games with the more modern assault weapons where the game would mostly be spray-n-pray (yawn...)

I want none of the above.

rather,

proper tank implementation and maps that span after stalingrad and add many vehicles like the panther, tiger, t34/85, lend lease lee, stuwart (also for RO:RS) and jeeps, clown car etc. etc

and of course: :IS2:

Over here, no not there, here.
I mean, I love the way RO2 does tanks, but the vehicle interiors mean there can't be mass-produced vehicles. Somebody wanting more vehicles would probably enjoy WT or WoT
lol jk not WoT

I never played RO or DH (I know of them.) But it seems to me it'd be much easier to just follow that line. I honestly wouldn't mind tackling it and creating models myself (I'd have to learn first...) But add an interior, animations, and all that stuff and it gets complicated...

Yeah and that's what I'm saying. If you don't have to have the interiours-
WarThunder.
I have it just to look at the models/armor profiles. Everything is worked out really nicely in that game. It's main issue now is just weird stuff like crew members who can take an entire 7.5 cm APCR round to the face and just be moderately inconvenienced by it.

Yeah, they must have iron skin or something...
Every program has its bugs. (look at the SDK for example! It has too many!)

Well the issue is that I don't think it's a bug. There's a crew skill called vitality. I just hope to glob that the magnitude is off.

GAH
err
uhmm

Yeah reality isn't spray n pray. If you do it right it won't be.

Its spray-n-pray if that is how players play it, and a modern warfare game would attract more of those type.

I can run around and spray-n-pray in RO if I wanted to, maybe not as well as someone in a COD game, but I CAN DO IT and I'm sure others can. Add more automatic and semi-automatic weapons to a game as a percentage and spray-n-pray will increase.

But das what I'm sayin :0
If it were done right run n n gun just wouldn't work. RO takes pace at pretty short range.
At the actual ranges firefights take place, with realistic weapon handling you just wouldn't be able to do it.
That said I don't know how big a map can be in videogames these days; might be a pipe dream.

You could still do in RO. As I said, not as effectively as in games such as COD, but you can and I have, although admittedly only in a panic/surprise situation.

Hey, I love the longer range maps myself, but the fact is that shorter range engagements will still happen, TWI will still make more smaller maps overall (Apartments/Barracks/Grain Elevator/you name it) and I'm sure any game in the future the majority of the maps will feature more of that. Its one of the reasons I prefer the custom maps, because those mappers tend to think 'bigger and grander in the scheme of things.' :D

Add to that, more automatic weapons and the crowd it would attract and you are going to have it, period.

And if TWI goes in that direction there is absolutely nothing I could do except not buy the game.

But this all is just my opinion :p

But das what I mean. Actuall 300m firefights you can't run 300m across an open field spraying and expect to not just get shot <
I'm talking about something I don't think has been done yet.
Heck the insurgency saucemod came pretty close.

Hey, I'm with you as far as medium to long range fighting (which is why I prefer rifleman), but do you honestly think the average current or future RO customer would be? And with that in mind, do you think TWI will make 300 meter long open fields for the players to run thru or stick with smaller range maps similar to Barracks and Apartments?

Heck, I remember even before RO2 was released and they were showing pictures of the Grain Elevator. I commented on the out of place piles of pallets the mapper put in the map to give cover to the attackers and shorten firefight ranges. In reality the defending Russians wouldn't have left all sort of cover for the advancing Germans. I called the mapper out (I forget who it was) and he jumped all over me (paraphrase) "You need more cover for players, its realistic, you need short range action blah blah blah..." That tells me that those type of players will be catered to. I'm not saying in a future RO3 my type of players will be ignored, but they won't be a priority or even a secondary concern.

a 300m open field in ro2 with no cover with 64 players? You'd be shot before you could move with iron sight zoom and shift zoom, even with cover I die a lot crossing open small amounts of open ground.

Unfortunately this is true.... I love the long range combat which requires skill and patience. As well as the freedom of movement rather than being confined in close quarters, it can lead to some very interesting events...Skirmishing anyone? :D
