Afghanistan? Pfft, no way. That would be a horrible sellout on behalf of TWI. Oh, let's join the club and make yet another modern shooter that can't stand out in a saturated market dominated by big-name titles... man, I really hope they don't do that.

But if they make the gameplay mechanics like RO and not like COD or BF then its a different story.

Think more like project reality

Over here, no not there, here.
Yeah I'm not of the opinion that a game simply being modern makes it bad.
From what I can tell just about no Modern Warfare game has been done right this far so I'd be open to someone competent making one.
Also WWI for ftw.

Yeah WW1 and TW could add spielbergs warhorse and were all stuck in trenches with mustard gas and bolt action rifles. It would be like being forced to play rifleman constantly.

Bring on modern warfare with RO tactical twist I say.

Imagine AK-47s, AK-SUs, Tanks, Choppers, Jets, Nightvision ala RO without BF twich shooting

I agree about the modern warfare. But I still think WWI has potential. There's a lot more cool stuff going on in WWI than people realize. Plus just making the game really good would off-set the slight decrease in variety (no SMGs, that's about it).

Hey Jank, I think u are mistake here. I did NOT speak of a modern Afghanistan shooter!

The first Afghanistan War was 1979–1989! (thats 25 years ago!!!)

And it was Soviet vs Mujahideen, not US vs Al Kaida.

and by the way:
Afghanistan War (Soviet vs Mujahideen) was NEVER made as a game before!

It would be something totally new and unique!!!

I'll say I don't want anything modern to be associated with the next RO3 myself, not even a Vietnam scenario. As far as Vietnam is concerned, my interest in it only involves the Pop Smoke team and their future In-Country game (and the best of luck to them).

Towards the end of WW2 there were enough semi and automatic weapons to go around. After that, you'd just have too many of those weapon types in the game and too many 'kiddies' running around with them like the modern warfare games. That kind of spray and pray attitude would just be "annoying..."

How about a new alternative "Ro3: The race to Berlin" have soviet maps coming from the east and the americans coming from the west, simple as that.

As for the spray and pray run and gun thing that wont happen if the gameplay mechanics remain. I dont think they w ould make it a twictch shooter like call of n00b o BF

TBH, I woud like to see focus on other untouched / lesser known theatres of WW2, like the Japanese vs British & other Commonwealth allies. It would be an interesting expansion for R02, not just RO3.

Some less covered theatres from WW2. Like:

-Black Sea Campaign
-Mediterranean Front (includes: Northern Africa, Greece, Italy, Cyprus)
-Late-War Eastern Front
-Baltics and Siege of Leningrad
-Finnish Front (Winter/Continuation/Lapland War.)
-Early Western Front
Either these, or if we absolutely have to move from WW2:

- Fictional escalated Cold War in 1950's/60's (tech would be more advanced than in WW2, but alot of things would stay the same.)
- Vietnam (Possibly covered by Pop Smoke with IC:V)
- Fictional international conflict set in 2010's/20's

What I don't want to see:
- Korean War; while it would be an intresting theme, I feel that it would be too much like WW2, as the tech used was pretty much the same.
- Soviet war in Afganistan; while being (one of) the less covered confict(s) in games, it would be pretty dull gameplay-wise.
- WW1; in the end, it would be pretty dull. The war was way different like in WW2, as it was based in military tactics used during Napoleonic Wars and Crimean War. Also, we have Verdun 1914-1918.

I definitely think this is the way to go

As for a modern form of RO....it already excists - INSURGENCY and if you've played it , you'll have seen that there is no more run and gun than in RO...one hit kills all round , definitely think before you move...a bit of fun now and then...way more tactics than most ....lets put it ....most modern FPS...the modern RO is already there

RO definitely holds a totaly different place in the FPS experience

So here we come CRETE...hopefully :)

Insungency is nothing like RO. It's a small, skirmish-sized game, where RO is about all out combined arms warfare.

? what combined arms warfare ?

you mean a few tanks....on a few maps...if you were talking of RO-ost or DH...i may agree

I was just pointing out that Insurgency...is how RO modern could look...and that its running

Where as CRETE would add real combined arms warfare :)

The issue is that to have that modern-warfare realism you have to go all the way. It wouldn't work as well in a closed environment. But on huge maps with long fighting ranges, the gamey play-style wouldn't manifest.
People with automatic weapons would be using semi or controlled bursts and anyone who tried to run towards their opponent rocking full-auto would miss every shot and then die :)
