i don't want ro3. ro2 is still beautiful and has mechanics that has yet to be surpassed by any shooter, period. it's most amazing and sad(that other games are stuck in the stone age).

So because you think that since RO2 is so great, it doesn't deserve a sequel?

Red Orchestra was the name of a communist resistance movement inside Germany. You are right, we are not fighting as left wing terrorists. :D

When I first came to RO, it was still a mod. What attracted me to RO was simply: No Americans. No Call of Duty "US saves the day!", just Germany vs USSR.
The addition of Rising Storm is nice, as it's a theater that has not been used over and over and over.
Having conflicts that have not been seen too often in videogames would be a real advantage compared to the big titles.
No game has - to my knowledge - portrayed Nationalist China vs. Imperial Japan or Nationalist China vs. Mao's Communists. This would be indeed an absolute newcomer.

I admit its very early in the morning here and I'm a bit tired to go into detail, but right now I'm studying Japanese politics and history. Japan Vs China is still a very hot potato and the subject is not really right for a game. If Tripwire or a mod team were to announce anything a bunch of very angry Chinese / Japanese nationalists would possibly swoop in and I imagine this forum would be a mess for a while. Until the Japanese come to terms with their history and until China would be willing to forgive Japan I don't think such a theater of war would be wise.

I don't believe that there is any game out there but I've seen quite a few Second Sino-Japanese mods out there.

That BF1942 mod has a good amount of battles in the Chinese theater including an incident in which the Nationalist and Communist forces fought.

I'd love to see RO3 enter the Cold War, some sort of European invasion by the Warsaw PACT or whatever scenario like that, maybe in 1980 or 85.

I remember in the RO1 days someone made a map called Maikop- It was either RO mod or RO1, I can't remember. This map was awesome- it was combined arms and it was epic. It also explored a pretty unknown area of the war- If I remember correctly, Maikop represented the easternmost territory that the Germans ever got their hands on.

Wow! I'm suprised that anyone still remembers that map...and it was me who built it, but with an incredible support from the community. I remember that the Comrades in Arms clan playtested and gave feedback and reported bugs which was a big help. It was first released in the RO mod and later for the RO1 mod Carpathian Crosses. What I also remember that there were two opinions about the map...you loved it or you hated it. Good times...

Africa is winning? Umm the game will have to be changed names then. Nothing red in africa, just Afrika Korps vs americans and brits. Nope no Uncle Joseph personell there.

Soviet/Mujadeen war would be better and more modern, maybe they could add a bunch of toys such as NIGHT VISION.

ww1 all they way, second world war has been covered so many times that its just too redundant. need a fresh scene in the fps community, ww1 would be the most interesting for me, however id say that the korean war would be a close second.

AS far as ww1 goes there is much people dont know about it, id also like to point out that there was indeed a eastern front, there was a front around the mediteranean, a front in the middle east, and also an Italian front.

The italian front could be the most interesting as it saw trench warefare up in the alps, i mean cmon who doesnt want to fight up in the mountains, or the massive movements of the ww1 eastern front, or the gritty trench warefare of the west, or the open scaling of the middle east or battles like gallipoli, i mean the possibliities are endless.

Nothing reda bout WW1, it was an imperialist war. Thats why Lenin after the revolution got russia the heck out of it. He said let them kill each other, my country does not have time for Tzarist policys anymore

Red Orchestra: a term used by the Gestapo for anti-Nazi/pro-Soviet espionage rings in Western Europe, as well as for a politically independent resistance group that fought the Nazis from within Berlin during World War II

****, we have to change the whole game from a shooter to an espionage game.

No it would not have to be an espionage game, i was just pointing out that your argument sucks. Guess what this isn't a resistance game either.

But lets take the name as literally as possible. How about a scenario where we all fight in the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, and our weapons are flutes and string instruments.

Hello, I'm recently a new member to the forums but have put in many hours into RO2/RS (perhaps too much:p). But yes I agree that a Red Orchestra 2 sequel should remain primarily on the Eastern Front. I haven't gotten too in-depth with Ostfront 1941-1945 and so am not too familiar with its locations. However, RO2 enters primarily in and around Stalingrad. Of course and very significant battle but certainly not a complete representation of the entire Eastern Front from 1941-1945. There is still plenty other battles and campaigns to be covered that could vary significantly depending on the year.
Soviet Offensives into East Germany (including the Battle of Berlin)
Operation Barbarossa
to name a few.

A sequel or expansion pack that would depict let's say North Africa would be fantastic nonetheless.

Reported and igonored.

Yes my argument sucks to those who cant comprehend. Your talking someone with undergraduate game programming and design studies....
Ironically and statistiacally the voting is biased, thats why N Afrika is winnning, the americans and brits want to play their country. Korea is too close chronologically to this. Thats why Afghanistan would be best scenario due to it being modern. DICe made that change as well going from BF to BF2 and BF2 wsa one of the most sold PC games ever.

Vietnam is plaayed out there was already a RO style game called vietcong if anyone remembers. WW1? Please Id rather play farmville then something from WW1.

Afghanistan? Pfft, no way. That would be a horrible sellout on behalf of TWI. Oh, let's join the club and make yet another modern shooter that can't stand out in a saturated market dominated by big-name titles... man, I really hope they don't do that.
