^^^ This.

Out of all the things that tend to bore me when playing ROOST or its mods, its playing the same maps over and over no matter how good they are. Its not lack of new vehicles, or skins and uniforms, or lack of new weapons. I can easily play with less content than what is out there. But playing the same maps over and over the past five years is getting to me. So...

Why on earth would I want to buy and play ROHOS on the same maps?!?! :p

This 1000 times!

Krasnyi Oktyabr was one of my favorites, along with Rakowice. Also totally support a remake of Leningrad for RO2.

What I'd REALLY like to see is more maps with lots of narrow street urban fighting but at the same time there being limited armor support. I'm thinking mostly like the Soviet T-70 vs the Panzer III in a small town scenario.

And remember, it's all well and good to bring over some of the classics, just dont play on the 24 7 servers running those maps around the clock. It was because we kept playing on those servers in RO Ostfront that things degenerated as they did. If you dont give them your attendance, they realize that the community is fed up with that crap.

What was the RO mod map on the barren hillside where you were supposed to cap a few gun emplacements? I always thought that map was a great idea that didn't quite work as designed.

Well, it was treeless, and had a network of trenches that attackers had to negotiate to get up the hill. A lot of people didn't like it, but I liked the long sightlines and the WWI battlefield feel.

Edit: Crusher named it below--it was Porcheye.

It would behoove some map makers to understand what makes a balanced, playable game. Things such as covered and concealed routes, no direct fields of fire covering the spawn exits. Balance in play is paramount. No one wants to play a map that is too simple or one that is heavily weighted in favor of one side.

I would like to see Arad, to be honest. Not the normal Arad, but one of the Arad Real Forests ( I forget which one it was, but there's one where you don't have any sort of "solid lump of trees", it's a bit more realistic with most trees having a good 3-5 feet in between them. It's not the one that's running on the 24-7 Arad on RO:Ost. ) I think that with the great improvements to the basic bolt action rifle targeting, the wide open spaces will provide an interesting new game play.

Of course, it may turn into what happened in RO1, where trying to go out as infantry rather than a tank means you get sniped from across the map, but then again it might not.

Ponyri
And some of the old mod day maps.

What was the name of that map they used to have in the pre 3.0 days? The one with the two 88s on the hill, surrounded by trenches.
