What kind of Monitor do you use ?

I used a 30" 2560x1600 Samsung 305T+ for three years until I switched to a 23" ASUS VG236HE 1920x1080 120HZ LCD. The 30" is wall mounted next to it and the set up is heaven for desktop usage.
Even though it is the a step down in image quality and size the 120Hz LCD's are worth every penny when it comes down to gaming. One of the best purchases I made this year.

An Eizo 20" 1680x1050 (think it's from the Flexscan series) and an old 17" on the side. I'd love to upgrade, but money is tight...Still, the Eizo produces great colours and viewing angels, considering it's a TN panel and it was damn cheap when I got it.
I'm not very schooled in the finer points of monitors.. I know 5ms response time or less is pretty good for FPS gameplay, but then there's people going on about IPN vs. TN panels and all this other hoopla..
I'm considering buying this monitor, it looks similar to the one Floyd just posted. Going by the specs, do you guys think this will be good enough for some HoS? ..or do I need to pony up $300+ for a good monitor

NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2 20" - When I bought it back in 2006 it was the best bloody screen for the (quite a lot of) money. Amazing picture, and one of the reasons I am reluctant to upgrade is I'm afraid it will be hard to match.
In the living room I have a Samsung 46" 8005, connected to the PC, use it for browsing, music and playing the kinds of games that are best suited to sitting in the sofa (with Xbox controller).

Just bought a 24-inch BENQ E2420HD 1920x1080
The panel is the better variant (between TN and IPS, VAG?) and it's LED backlit.
Although I wanted 1920x1200, almost no monitors use that
Although the colours are extremely nice (as it is promoted for) the 10ms lag is really noticable. It is compensated by some software trick, but still it's not great. I am used to 2-3ms Samsung, if the colours were not this much of an improvement I would have returned it.
Price was fine btw, 230 euro's.
Edit: I really feel lied ot btw. Everybody is like "led, very nice to have pure black". It's not pure black at all because of backlight... I feel ripped off, wanted darkness...

I'm playing on my laptop, so monitor isn't an issue - integrated 15,6" widescreen @ 1366x768.
Though most of the time im at the forums I'm at work (... xD) where I'm using a SyncMaster2243 22" widescreen @ 1280x720

Well, it doesnt seem like anyone has any input about the monitor I posted, and now a couple of you have me looking into 120hz monitors.
Of course once I start reviewing these 120hz monitors I find out some video cards don't support 120hz.. do you guys know if the AMD 6850 series supports 120hz?

yeah i got 3 monitors all 1280 1024 max lol.
I also have one widescreen that i think is a bit more but the screen size is tiny anyway.
i cant be bothered to fork out on a decent one if i have working monitors but i secretly would like my old gear to stop working to force me to replace it.

I want a bigger monitor though. I imagine going to 24 inches will enable me to see those specs in the sky much more clearly. Though I am a bit concerned about the frame rate hit.

I'm the last person to give advice on monitors. My only recommendation is to check and see what the store's policy is on returns and dead pixels. They can vary wildly.
I used to run a crt at 150hz with an old card. Are the signals sent to an LCD different? I just wonder about your source stating that newer cards don't support 120hz?

Apparently these AMD 5XXX cards only go up to 85hz. So that had me wondering if say a 6850 would support 120hz.
Are the Hz (refresh rates) determined by the monitor alone, or does the OS have something to do with it as well? According to the link above, the GPU may have a say in it. I read something that said XP/Vista forced a max 60hz unless you used seperate progs? You will be fine.
You need a dual link DVI port to run a 120Hz monitor. I tested the 6970 with one and it worked fine. The new AMD cards only have 1 dual link DVI port however, the second DVI port is single link only. So if you pull the trigger on one make sure you connect it to the dual link port and not the single link port. Also use the DVI cable that comes with the monitor.
Which 120hz panel you thinking of getting?
