Really... i hate the people that complains always with the sniper rifle and this is RIDICULOUS

about precision... what the ****? even the handgun has more precision than sniper, if the enmy is moving, i dont know others but for me at least, its IMPOSSIBLE to hit with sniper rifle, even if hes only walking, only 1 from 6? 7? are hits while with other weapons it isnt a big problem

about scope... hmmm.. well i really like the zoom with all weapons but... with this,a normal rifle is better than sniper becouse you can aim so faster and you can see the enemy easy with that zoom without scope

about slots... 1 per team? well i wont complain about it,but yes about that everyone can get it... how? just get a overpower pc that loads the map faster than anyone, this is unfair... i want to be sniper in this game but its impossible to get it at first time (for me) but wait... what happend when i get it in the middle of the game? i have it for 2min? 3? (some games are very short duration) or the fuking autobalance change my team and they change my weapon class

about MG,s... at the moment, they are like sniperspowahihityoufrom250meters:rolleyes:

pd: ok, sorry for my english and my complains, i know this is BETA but...there are limits -.-`

The hit detection for all weapons in general are a known issue, zooming in with the sniper also lags the crap out of computers in terms of framerate drop.

You're right though that anyone running SSD's/Fast Internet will get into the server and have first pick of whatever they want.

If you perform well in a particular match (#1 on your team's scoreboard, maybe the top 3?), you get a "battlefield promotion" and you may pick any class you want for the next round.

However, the message come's up so fast you often don't have the time to actually pick anything before it disappears.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, it has been said in the past that higher ranking players will have priority in choosing their class to prevent the fast-loaders from taking all the sweetest spots.

Yes it is hard to hit with the scoped rifles. The framerate drops badly for me when I use the scope, and my accuracy goes way, way down with all weapons if framerate is low. Maybe this is the reason for you, too?

MG hitting from 250 meters is appropriate. They are the weapons with the by far longest effective range. Long, heavy barrels. High powered ammunition. Heavy weapon. Solid bipod support. Rapid tight bursts or (with MG34) single shots. They also can barely move and are loud and obvious with bright muzzle flashes and the MG gunner himself easy to see even when he deploys the MG on something. The tracers can also be seen at times.

I am one of those SSD bastards and I can always get whatever I want. Which tends to be bolt action rifle or MG. :) I won't touch the sniper rifles, performance is bad enough as it is on my high end, Intel i5 3.5ghz quad core, Radeon 6970, computer...

Odd that you guys would be talking about your frames dropping when you use the sniper scope, let alone when you zoom in with it..... people have been pointing out that my video card is basically total crap these days (GeForce 210 4Gig)..... I have my settings pretty low in order to play decently, yet the graphics are still pretty good. They're either set to High or Ultra.

When I play with the "Marksman" class, I have zero affect on my FPS when I use the scope, let alone zoomed in.... and when it comes to hitting anybody with it.... No Problems at all to report.

I aim at a specific area, I shoot.... it hits that specific area. When someone is running, I lead the target and most times I hit them.... the rest of the time I didn't lead enough or I led too much and just miss them.

I don't get the marksman class often, not that I try to get it (if it's available I'll take it)..... but if I see a sniper rifle lying around from someone that was recently killed, I'll scoop it up and start using it.

Works just fine for me in RO2 as it did in RO1 and the mod..... in fact, when it came to FPS dropping horribly, that always happened to me in RO1 and the mod when I had the scope set to a high quality model, which is one of the reasons why I used the low model all the time.

The low model scope in RO1 & Mod worked perfectly, no FPS drop, it seemed more accurate in regards to the sight placement.... and as a bonus, I had a larger peripheral view around my scope, in that it didn't fill up the entire screen and felt more normal in size to me.

Yet the scope in RO2 doesn't seem to do a thing to me when playing, it's smooth as liquid crap.

Which makes me wonder if Tripwire left the scope model options in the game. I know there's nothing in the game menu to select which one you would prefer, but in the config files, there's piles of stuff to switch on or off, like adjusting your gamma, anti-aliasing, and a lot more.... maybe there's a section for scope detail which could help you guys out who are having FPS issues.

Even if my FPS's are perfectly fine with the current scope, if I have the option to switch to the low model, I'd do it in a heartbeat..... I just like having that extra area around my scope to see what's going on.

DONT MAKE EXCUSES FOR YOUR BAD SKILL!

Sniper works perfectly fine and precision is excellent. I get many headshots.(from pll crouching behind windows).

Your issue is that ure playing like a cod noob; sprinting and suppression affects accuracy. Try aiming with breathing zoom more too...

You shouldnt forget that the sniper scope right now is only 1.5x, switch from scope to iron sight (6 key), zoom in and switch back to scope (6 again). You will notice that the things through the scope are 1.5 times larger, so still larger than through the so called zoom.

Cant wait for the 4x and 6x Scopes.

Wow, you seriously need to start practicing, you need to lead your shots, sometimes aim a few MM above their scalp if its >150m (no sight adjustment).

Practice; the sniper is very good, and even better once you unlock the large scope for it ;)!

I dislike the scoped rifle, takes up far too much valuable real estate for me to keep an eye on the battlefield, okay if all im looking at is a small area, but if I see movement on fallen fighters when shooting one guy, ill know where to scan my rifle to next. I am better with the Bolt action and Carbine versions, and only use a scoped rifle for counter sniper when I cannot see into darker areas, FallenFighters is a gorgeous map for rifles, and I detest the scope rifle in that map. I usually go Rifleman or Elite Rifleman, the funny thing is, with perk/class progression, I would wind up a more advanced (Elite) Rifleman due to my personal preference, when I am performing the role of the Marksman.

Didnt get around to playing with the iron sights yet, how much screen does the scope take up that way? or do you detatch it?

As for leading targets, Fallen is a great map to practice on for allies, if you set up a nest in the Technical school you can snipe down to the Axis as they run for cover, with an SDK being released in time, perhaps there will be a map mut that has bot targets running laps at differing distances and you can snipe them at your leisure.

I've had some good success with the Sniper on fallenfighters as Axis. Heading into th department store theres a stair way that looks out onto the centre of the map and across from that, the allies run out from their spawn toward the middle. Setting the sights to 200m I've managed some ludicrous 230m+ shots while they were sprinting. Only a few though. The sight adjustment helps big time.

imo sniper is super hard.

all of the objectives require at least some kind of effective medium range support. non-scoped rifle is better.

when i play as sniper, i sit miles back looking towards the enemy line getting the odd useless kill. then after a dry spell of over a minute i try to move up, then get flanked or killed in close/mid range combat.

there's very few situations where you need the scope except the fact that you feel like a boss when you see an enemy through your lens.

also - please stop whining about performance. for me, this game runs better than witcher 2 and deus ex human revolution. in that the required settings i need in order to achieve >50 fps are higher. my PC was a mid-high spec two years ago...

maybe your pc needs a defrag, maybe you have too much junk running in the background, maybe you've tweaked the wrong setting or have the settings too high, maybe your gfx card drivers are glitching.

the game is running fine for me aside from the occasional crash which happens about once every 5 hours... sometimes from inside the menu when i'm not even in a game.

Remember to dial in the range. But the sniper isn't as effective as in previous games, mostly due to engagement ranges zoom and map design. Maybe that will change when we get more open maps.

Another possible solution to not hitting moving targets- don't shoot at them. Look at the purpose of a sniper, not the gamer view of one.

Snipers/marksmen have since their inception been used for picking off higher value targets than the basic infantryman. Snipers were used for taking out officers and specialists- higher value targets- with greater efficiency than a standard rifleman could. What are specialist and how do you recognize them? Simple! See a guy hanging around a radio or with binoculars? Shoot him- hes an officer. See a guy manning an MG, laying down loads of more the slightly more visible tracer fire? Shoot him, he's suppressing your team mates. See the slightly bigger muzzle blast of and AT rifle? Shoot him, he's hurting your tanks or even infantry (very effective ant-infantry weapon, BTW).

There is a pattern here, as well as a very useful formula for conserving ammo. Don't waste rounds on basic riflemen or assault troopers when there are targets of higher value like MGers, ATer, squad leaders and commanders. You will find them running around, yes, but they will certainly stop at various points to regain their stamina (as do all infantry, really). Use your ammo for the specialists, and when they are gone or behind cover, then put some into the riflemen and assault troopers that are taking cover in your line of fire.

I think the scoped rifle handles great.
Unlike many other games, having that scope does not make you a killing machine. Rather it makes you a specialist with both strenghts and weaknesses. You should fight according to your role.

I just played the marksman in the grain elevator map on attackers side. I could not see the enemy high up in the windows with my bare eye, but with the scope I spotted them and managed to kill several. I could really support my team who was fairly defenceless themselves. It was very neat experience.

I allways scan the battlefield zooming without holding the weapon up. Works very well.

How on earth is that relevant when the people with the most powerful PCs seem to get the most grief from this game. It seems to be optimized for three year old computers.

or the likely explanation, 95% of high-end pc users have no problems, but the 5% who do get problems are the only ones you see *****ing on forums.

I have no problem hitting people with rifles even on the move.
It does take practice.

The sensitivity of the mouse does help alot when leading people on the move and take shot at them.
Also you can adjust the range and rest the weapon.

And pistol ain't sniper rifles either.
Up to 50 meters you could kill some one.
