recently i read a statement from the creator of the show answering a troll that used a similar phrase. she told him that the show is made for kids and their parents, and the fact that even adults without kids enjoy it makes her proud.
there are references to big lebowsky and metal gear solid in episodes, i don't think those are aimed at 6 year old girls.

Well, Smiff is right, if you want to get technical about it. The target demographic is for young girls.
It does have a wide demographic appeal, though, as Tix mentioned. It contains good writing and some references that appeal to older audiences.

there's nothing wrong with genuinely disliking the show or being sceptical about it.
when i first encountered ponies on the web, i also was irritated by the fact that adult males actually like this show, but it made me curious. this thread broke the ice and i downloaded the pilot and shortly after that i had watched all episodes available and was surprised how good the show actually is.
i'm not a brony per se but i consider myself a fan of the show.
this fact may make me a weirdo, but definitely not a pedophile.
