Although I fit this description, I don't really consider myself a "Bronie", because I usually associate that with people who just enjoy the irony of liking a show aimed at little girls, who see it as an oppurtunity to stand out from the crowd, and feel superior due to their open mindedness.
I on the other hand like the show for what it is. Even though I'm nearly 25, I've always liked cartoons, and to this day still enjoy the likes of Bucky O'Hare, X-Men, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Megas XLR, Tom & Jerry, Looney Toons, Disney Movies, etc, etc. I even found Ben 10 entertaining... until Alien Force came along... thats just crap. I won't watch any old twoddle, but I don't dismiss a show just because its a cartoon.
My Little Pony is an example of a show that is very well written, well characterised, with a good sense of humour. Alot of gags in it are remiscent of classic cartoons, and even older demographic sources like the Big Lebowski and Benny Hill.
I find it quite amusing when people say something really well thought out like, "People who watch this show are a disgrace". I stay in 99% of the time to play video games all evening. I don't enjoy going out all night and drinking myself stupid, or smoking 15 cigarettes a day because "I smoked at school to 'fit in' with the popular crowd". Most of the way through my young life I've had people exploit my naivity, take advantage of my generous nature, and had good friends who are really only looking out for number 1.
Given my extremely negative view of the world, this show has alot of positivity in it. For me, (and I know this sounds incredibly wanky), when I watch it, it genuinely makes me happy.
Why would the approval of the arseholes mentioned above be preferable to that? I didn't care about them when I enveloped myself in a budget wave based team survival horror FPS, and I don't care about them now.
Apologies for the mini rant. It's nice to just vent every now and again
